But to be fair, the numbers are right there. Jones ISN'T much of a draw. You can argue that he SHOULD be, and I'd agree with you, but Jones by himself just isn't yet.

Before we all jump on the hate Jon Jones movement again why don't we wait til after the Hendo fight (assuming he wins) and see if he actually causes any problems taking the rematch with Lyoto. Cause at the moment he is just stating an opinion which he should be free to do.

Honestly how many people here think Lyoto has earned a rematch in the first place?

Look at the numbers, he's not one of the biggest draws this sport as seen. Outside of hardcores, people aren't tuning into see Jon Jones. Most people don't even know who he is.

I agree. I honestly think most of the buys came from his opponents (shogun, rampage..) or people who just wants him to see get beat up

I don't get it. What's the point of saying you don't want to fight the number 1 contender? It makes you look weak, and you still end up having to fight him.

He did dominate Machida.

He got hit with one good shot and arguably lost a very uneventful first round.

He took Machida down, landed his elbow, dropped him, then chocked him unconscious.

I must critique this comment. Anderson was ducking Chael--the guy who Anderson would make the most money fighting against. Anderson couldn't use $$$ as an excuse not to fight Chael, but Jones is entitled to use $$$ not to fight Lyoto. A guy he finished like a year ago.

Jones knows that the UFC is in a tough spot and doesn't have a legit contender. All he's doing is asking the UFC to make it worth his while, since he'd be doing them a favor to hype a fight that he genuinely isn't interested in.

When did Anderson do that? He fought Vitor and Okami while Sonnen was suspended... And fought Sonnen his very next fight, when he was able to compete again after his surgery.

If your going straight off the numbers Jones is a big draw. He has been pulling around 500k buys. Only Lesnar, GSP, Evans and AS have been over that multiple times... as well as Liddell and Couture in the past.

I do agree that who he was fighting has to do with the fight selling, but you cannot use the numbers to say he is a bad draw.

Few are better currently in the UFC. GSP, AS... possibly Evans and Rampage. Even BJ hasnt consistently shown that kind of #.

He has sold decently since becoming champion. Who he was fighting has a lot to do with it, but that will only help his stock. His fighting style, and dominating well known elite fighters will catch interest. People who tuned in to watch Shogun, Rampage, Evans, Machida for their fight with Jones, may now want to see him.

He is surpassing guys like Edgar by at least double. You could say "Most people dont know who he is" about any fighter. Jones also seems to catch a lot more media attention than the smaller champs like edgar, cruz, aldo.

dont expect him to be GSP or AS overnight. He has all the potential to get there.
