| Glover not 'ok' with it, but Lyoto's father say they should fight if they had to Glover not 'ok' with it, but Lyoto's father say they should fight if they had to Quote:
Questioned about the boss’s point of view, Glover Teixeira, who’s friends and training parter of Lyoto Machida, affirmed he would not like to fight him, but since he is a UFC employee, recognizes it is up to the organizers.
“Only in the future we’ll know it. When you’re an employee of a company you can avoid certain situations, but you can’t deny a fight. We’re employees but there’s a boss. We may try to avoid this, but if it happens I hope for the best and that everything go alright. If he is the champion, and I’m hoping he is, let’s see”, said on an interview with TATAME.
Even when talking about this delicate subject, Glover was cool and reminded of a story about Lyoto’s father, master Yochizo Machida, when he said they would have to fight each other.
“Lyoto’s dad told us we had to fight. ‘You’re going to fight alright. I put Lyoto and his brother to fight each other. You have to fight’. I told him I wouldn’t, I joked about it with his wife: ‘no, Glover. You oughtta fight’. We kept playing and joking about it and I’m calling him saying: ‘Lyoto, I’m training here with Mr. Machida’ (laughs)”.

Would be a great matchup. If Glover can steamroll through Rampage like I and a few others think he can then who does Glover fight after Rampage? Does Glover sit on his hands and wait for the winner of Jones (or Hendo)/Machida?
Not every fighter can separate the lines between training partner/friend and opponent. I know this is going to turn into another thread about "Oh, these guys are right. The others are pussies because they won't fight each other." The UFC does not have the right to force the issue and blur the lines themselves, nor do the fans. The decision remains with the fighters.
You could spin this another way. If Machida's father is fine with Lyoto fighting Glover, then what of Anderson Silva. What one has to take into account is that Lyoto and Anderson already know what would happen were one to fight the other --- we do not.

Probably the winner of Shogun/Goose vs. Glover (if he wins impressively) would be a good title shot decider.

I don't think that it is in the best interests of the UFC to book Glover vs. Gus. It looks to me that they are avoiding this at all costs in the same way that they did with Cain///JDS until one of them had a title shot.

Glover v Lyoto would be fun to watch, but if they dont want to fight, that is ok with me cause thier are a few nice fights for Glover at 205

They're both promising fighters moving towards title shots in a division that needs that....
But if Shogun and Glover both win or both lose, a Glover/Shogun fight would be a huge win for fans. Oh wait... |

The problem is getting these guys to the title shot....
I have both Goose and Glover losing to Shogun and Rampage.... They are very solid top10 LHW's imo, but cannot get past the best.... that Jones has already beaten.
Lets hope Sonnen gets past Forrest and gets a title shot after that.

He also missed weight by a big amount... Rampage has always blown up in between fights, but I cannot ever recall him missing weight in the UFC, or even before that. Something clearly wasnt alright...
But I guess it makes sense... he avoids Jon Jones' takedowns early on in their fight, one of the few to stop his takedowns... then gets taken down at will against Ryan Bader in his next fight... |
