| Anderson wants to compete at Rio Olympics in TKD or boxing Anderson wants to compete at Rio Olympics in TKD or boxing Quote:
The 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Brazilian delegation may have a new member: Anderson Silva . At the launch party for the second edition of his book "The Story of a Champion in the Ring and in Life," the UFC middleweight champion revealed in an interview with SPORTV.COM that he wants to compete in the Olympics in Rio, and cited as boxing and Taekwondo possibilities.
In a 15 minute interview, Anderson said he trained boxing for a long time with his teachers, and trains with Minotauro, who is a black belt in Taekwondo.
"It would be a challenge in my career, and I'd like that," said Silva "Participating in a competition like this is something really lacking for me, being an Olympian. I do not know if I would get used condition, the medal would be like the belt a consequence, but it would be great.

That's be pretty awesome!
I can't see him doing TKD? But, I guess you really can't count Anderson out of anything
I was wondering about this before actually, but I know you have to be an amateur boxer to compete in the olympics right? I know Anderson and these other guys aren't pro boxers, but they are pro MMA fighters. Would that be a conflict at all I wonder? Or would it just not matter at all, because they are totally different professions

Hey has a pro boxing recorded of 1-1 so he can't be apart of boxing as far as I know under the rules of amateur boxing

Would love to see him in boxing!
But if its the same ridiculous scoring system that they used this year then literally no ones safe

He cant compete in the Olympics for Boxing, He has a professional record... unless there is some loophole.
but
that doesnt make any fucking sense because for Basketball, its full of professionals from the NBA and I dont see any difference here, its still competition and taken just as seriously.

Didn't he have a (short) pro boxing career? How can he compete in amateur boxing in the Olympics?
Edit: Yup, looks like some other people pointed out he went 1-1 as a pro....
