This is the take of a fighter. People like joe step up, be it short notice or whatever, to save cards and give the fans what they pay for. I'm not saying Jones is completely in the wrong to turn down this fight, but to call joe a jack ass is a bit much. Jones just turned down a fight that could have saved the card.. against a guy who didn't have a fight camp and was coming up in weight to fight him. I think there are 2 mentalities in this sport.. Fighters and athletes. Joe has the fighter mentality and Jones has the athlete mentality.
Agreed
And for the people who say Sonnen never deserved the shot, no shit, that's obvious. But the UFC and Sonnen did whatever they could to salvage the card, so the fans who spent money and took time off to travel to Vegas never spent their money on nothing. And the other fighters on the card would get paid. Jones did not
This was a unique situation, so the UFC and an unworthy contender stepped in, on virtually no notice, to try and salvage this card for the fans. I would have obviously been aware that Sonnen never deserved the shot, but would have been thankful that he was given it so I still had a fight card to watch
Dude Your straight up defending jones... You can't quote someone saying they are in no way defending jones then you go onto defend the decision he just made... Quit playing your little self righteous game and acting like a fucking women "oh these fans are so disgusting, how dare they get upset over getting fucked out of tix, hotel rooms and prolly time they planned on taking off for a while because sum fucking asshole didn't wanna show up to face an easier opponent on the exact same day he was already training to fight for months, and collect a massive fucking paycheck thats coming out of the fans pockets. Those assholes!" and that's just the fans. Forget about everyone else.
I'm not sure where the confusion is. He said he wasn't defending Jones, I said I was.
The whole thing sucks for the fans. They took a risk buying tickets/ planning a vacation around a weak card knowing how common injuries are in this sport. How is it the fault of Jones that the UFC failed to deliver for them? I took that same risk when I bought a ticket to a weak card a month ago at UFC 150.

I didn't call him a jackass. I'm a fan of his. I'll pay to watch him fight any time and I've seen him fight live. I still think its the take of a jackass though.
It isn't Jones responsibility to make sure a card goes on. It's the UFCs. It's Jones responsibility to take on the most worthy opponent, which he his.
I agree with the last part though. Jones is an athlete. Thats not a bad thing.

When Lorenzo Fertitta, of all people, is disgusted with you for losing your company millions... I think you made the wrong decision.
Guess what? Jon Bones Jones is officially a villain in the UFC now. It will only help ratings. Boner didn't do it the same way that Tito did. He did it with his own vaginal passive aggressive style.
Turning down a fight against a weak opponent who doesn't deserve it to take a fight against a much more dangerous opponent that deserves it more is actually pretty awesome.

Ask the fighters on the undercard how awesome it is.
You would think Bones attacked Henderson backstage with a steel chair before the match to cause the injury, the way people are blaming him for this. I'm not a big fan of Jones because I do think he puts on a phony persona for P.R. purposes, but some of the Jones hatred is just as loony, or even worse than, the hate LeBron James gets. If Bones got injured instead of Hendo, we'd probably see numerous threads calling him a pussy or a coward, pulling out of the fight due to fear of losing. But no, the fighter that's still ready to fight THE OPPONENT HE'S BEEN PREPARING FOR AND STUDYING FOR WEEKS, gets the blame for ruining the event......
And who honestly feels even 20% as excited for Jones vs. Sonnen as they did Jones vs. Henderson? Be for real.
(And I have the utmost respect for Hendo, he's one of the toughest SOBs on the planet, before some moron assumes that I'm personally taking issue with his withdrawal)

How is the card, or the undercard getting cancelled Jon Jones problem?
For weeks people have been bitching about Dana White and how bad the card is. Maybe, if it was a stronger card, it would not have been cancelled.
To blame 1 fighter, for turning down a fight against a guy who hasn't earned it and taking a fight against a more dangerous guy at the PPV after it, for ruining the card is just crazy. For all you know Jones said yes to Machida, Machida asked for more time and Jones agreed to 152 before the whole Sonnen shit got started.
Oh...what was the that? They didnt say that at the press conference? Dana White didnt make it sound like it happened that way? When did everyone on here start believe Dana White? Seems like people only believe him when it fits there post...............
