Anderson just can't win for losing man. The guy offers to save a card (and him offering is all that has been said, so that's all we can go by) and he still comes out being trashed. With so much hate, it makes me realize just how good he is.

Wait a minute, y'all think Silva did this for PR reasons? Am I mistaken, or wasn't not Dana white who released this information, and not Silvia's camp? Furthermore, when has silva ever given a shit about PR? He is notoriously known for not doing himself any favors in the PR department. Y'all are grabbing at straws.

Let me guess, when Anderson called Dana, he asked him to mention it to the press right to make him look good right?

exactly....

but it is the same with Jones...

If it had been another champion that did what Jones did... They wouldn't have nearly got as much shit for it.

I still have no clue why the UFC would put Jones vs. Vitor rather than have him fight Sonnen.

I wish Jones would have taken the fight, but I can understand his and Jackson's reasoning.... But if they also turned down that fight, with 4 weeks notice... id be pissed.

I can't make any claims on Anderson doing this for PR or anything about who his opponent might have been. From at least reading this news as is, taking at face value, I give Anderson a lot of props. Anderson is widely considered the best fighter in the sport currently (and to some of all time), he was willing to put his undefeated UFC streak on the line with 8 days notice with no camp preparation against a light heavyweight. Meanwhile, Jones with a full training camp was asked to fight a MW (who had no preparation) that was much less of a threat than Henderson and still declined.

Sure people could say that Anderson wasn't defending his title and Jones was, so he had more to lose. However Jones had a full training camp and Anderson didn't, and Jones was fighting a person who is a natural MW whereas Anderson would've been fighting a natural LHW. So any opponent would have gotten a very game Jones but they would've gotten a not so game Anderson. Getting a victory over Anderson speaks more volumes than Jones at this point.

This just basically makes Jones come off even worse when a much more accomplished champion would've stepped in to fight.

Too bad it's not so bad that Jones gets pissed at Anderson for adding insult to injury and actually presses for a fight against Silva.

Anderson called and offered after he heard the event was cancelled, he also wasn't offering to fight Jones according to an espn article with Soares.

Anyone know why Machida turned down fight? was it because he didnt have enough prep time? I find it odd myself I feel as if Jones turned down Lyoto only because he was just spewing about how it was his worst ppv ever then they offer up the Lyoto rematch on short notice in Toronto again? who knows.

Then why not fight the #1 contender in your own division instead of throwing out an offer after the event has already been cancelled? Thought he needed time off til 2013 as far as fighting Wiedman is concerned.

I believe that if Anderson offered this then he meant it. I don't think he would've offered to take a high risk fight, but still attempt to give fans a main event.
