Anderson really does deserve props for offering to step in and ACT LIKE A CHAMPION. As much as I feel he's dragging his feet defending his belt, he showed that above all, he respects the sport, his employer, and his fellow fighters by trying to prevent Jones' selfishness and douchebaggery from cancelling an event.

I'm of the belief that the offer was hollow as well for a number of reasons.

1. The UFC would never ever allow a superfight of this magnitude without a ridiculous amount of promotion. No way 8 days is enough for that.
2. Dana White would have to go back on his word to now say the fight was back on. After how long he railed on Jones and Jackson his ego would wouldn't let him do that.
3. Jones just turned down a fight with Sonnen, there's no way he's accepting a fight with Anderson with 3 training days left.

If I know these things then Anderson should know these things. That's why his offer is hollow and just a PR stunt.

Wow, you mean to tell me another major superstar was available to fight? It never occurred to Dana to maybe call other guys and see if other fights were possible to make, maybe even move up from October or November? The fact that Anderson would have offered to fight if asked, tells me that Dana White and company didn't look TOO far for the best replacement main event. If he was on his job, Dana White would have called Jones first and then planned. I hope the UFC can learn from this and set backup plans into place well before an event.

Since I've new of Soares I haven't liked him, and Anderson got some dislike from that. Real or not it looked good for Anderson to say that.
Hopefully this has taken some I won't fight this guy away and down the road Anderson offers to fight Jones.
