Fact of the matter is that we are not living in the 60's. There are still people who are ignorant enough to believe that race is the root cause of all of ills of society but the government and education system is to blame for that. Most areas of North America are colour blind, if you are living somewhere that isn't then perhaps you should move because you are the one that is allowing yourself to be living in a field of negativity.
Multiculturalism is thriving in most areas that are not poverty stricken. To think that Las Vegas and North America as a whole are as anti-black as the 60s is laughable. When was the last time you were refused service in a metropolitan area? People only care about how much class and cash you have. If you have neither, then you will be perceived poorly by them. We live in a massively materialistic society, much more so then it used to be. That has more effect on how you are perceived than the color of your skin.
Racism certainly is still present but not nearly to the same degree. To state that Jones is perceived in even a fraction of the way that Ali was due to his race is insulting to your own intelligence.
Being picked on due to your race while growing up is similar to being picked on for being small, a oddly placed mole or your ears looking funny. Kids find a way to single others different from them out because they want to be a part of a collective or feel better about themselves. Bullying makes one angry and self-conscious until that person is able to understand why and how people act the way that they do. I was picked on because I was both small and native but it hasn't made me grow up to blame all of people's negative views of me because of the colour of my skin. That is faulty logic. A person allows themselves to be a victim.
This is no longer 1900-1960. You can thank people like Ali, MLK, Malcolm X, the feminists and every other revolutionary for changing the world to a more habitable place. But to play the victim of circumstance until you are placed in a grave is beyond foolish. You allow yourself to be a victim of your own circumstance.
Nah racism hasn't changed all that much. If anything its simply hidden (well most of the time anyways).

...and hell many can't really say why they didn't like Jones before UFC 151 Gate went down.....
I neither like nor dislike him. I hope, for his sake, that he gets the snakes out of his head and emerges as an adult soon.
I can tell you what I didn't like about him, though, and that's been prevalent long before 151: Jones is a massive LHW, with incredible physical gifts, and these gifts augment solid skills to elite-level performance. However, in a world surrounded by overhype and hyperbole in MMA, Jones' actual talent and skill levels are perceived incorrectly as great and the best in his division. It's the same issue I've had with Georges and Anderson, respectively, only worse, as both of them are far more technically skilled than Jon. Same issue I had with lesnar, only lesnar made it worse by actively being a douche.

It can be considered a fall from grace without a fall.

who cares what most of these hater fans think of him...
Jones clearly does, or he wouldn't struggle for affection so abysmally. You do, or you wouldn't defend him so obstreperously.

Racism is still active and profoundly influential in the U.S. However, it is not nearly as impactful or damaging as it was in the 60s. Jones' current situation has about as much to do with racism as apples do with carburetors.

All manner of men came to work for the News: everything from wild young Turks who wanted to rip the world in half and start all over again -- to tired, beer-bellied old hacks who wanted nothing more than to live out their days in peace before a bunch of lunatics ripped the world in half.
Roaddawg had some very interesting videos, the social experiment videos, especially the one with the bike thief scenario are especially telling. I hope those folks in the video went home and took a harder look at themselves, but most likely not. The vid about the racist store clerk probably had as much to do with Apathy and Indifference in America as it did with racism, hell it was shot in a upscale store in New York City! I mean come on, talk about the wrong location for an experiment like this, if they shot it in the south, I personally think you would have gotten more people on camera stepping in. I think it would be funny to see an experiment like that done in a place like Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston or Oklahoma City.
The other vids are just liberal propaganda for the democratic party. I think most people want to be decent and want to believe they are decent, but lets face it we are all infected with some degree of racism. It's a part of American culture, hell maybe our psychology as human beings. Becoming defensive and angry isn't gonna change anything. Acknowledgement that we don't understand each other as well as we think we do and personal introspection, I think are the only ways we can truly begin to understand each other.
Now back to Jones. I think Jon is a good kid who's a bit strange to say the least, I wouldn't say he's socially awkward but he's not a natural celebrity. He could be just like anyone of us put under a microscope and thrust into money and fame. Hell I think TMZ would have a field day on my "activities" if I were rich and famous. He doesn't always come across the way he wants to, and I think that he does have some responsibility to look at his actions and words with a critical eye and either talk less or hire a good PR person to help him get his messages across. Personally I'd tell him to not engage with social media or the fans at all until fight night if he doesn't like getting negative feedback. You play the game you risk getting burned. I think the less you say and more you win, the more people like you. Case in point, Fedor.

I have read that Chicken Jones considered to pay the salary of all fighters that were suppossed to fight at UFC 151. But since some (not all) of those fighters bashed him, he decided to not pay anything LMAO

I rarely find a person claiming racism who isn't a racist. Let's not forget that Obama is half white, raised by white people yet hates white people. Try explaining that to your 11 year old.
I think everyone here comes from a sporting background. I coach multiple sports and have mixed race football and wrestling teams. Most of my parents get along great, but you always have the few that claim somebody isn't giving them a fair chance or their kid because they're Black, White, Hispanic etc; and it's those same people that are always talking racist smack against others.
I'm in a mixed marriage and I get that some of my wife's side will never accept me. The most interesting aspect of the situation is that when my wife tells them not to be racist and dislike me because I'm White, they tell her it's not racist to hate White people because only Whites can be racist.
I just laugh it off and we do our thing. I will say this RD, my kids will never turn their backs on either side of their ethnicity. They've been taught to embrace both.
If we all woke up green tomorrow, less intelligent groups would start to separate by hair color or eye color.
Racism is just a part of human nature, we can no more stop our instincts anymore than we can stop our bodily functions. I think as society evolves and mixed relationships become more the norm some racist attitudes will become more and more marginalized. But the instinct to distrust those who look different from you will probably always be with us. It would be nice to live in a star trek future, but idealism is great until you add real human beings into the recipe. Human Beings make even the most beautiful ideals taste like shit. We are just a bad ingredient.....hell even most animals don't like the way we taste...

Leave it to roaddawg to parade around the fact that white people are the devil, which he's too stupid to realize is a form of racism in of itself.
There is absolutely no parallel to ANYTHING with Jon Jones as there is to Muhammad Ali. Your heart is as disgusting as your lack of intelligence, and just the fact you wake up to mystify yourself in the lie of a life you lead is truly appalling. Let me guess: you demand repercussions too because you're an African American male who found Youtube videos which represent your narrow scope of reasoning. Black people aren't racist at all, and definitely don't hate Mexicans to their core or call Caucasians "crackers".
Stop acting like the hate you receive is a byproduct of the color of your skin. It's because you're missing chromosomes and your parents enjoyed crack during your accident of a pregnancy.
