I dont really see beating Bisping or Stann to be a much better win than beating Belcher... |
Son, if he beat up Belcher and then said "Anderson, stop being a pussy and come out and face me" you'd be the second person
* on the forum to jump to the defense of "ooh, Weidman
still hasn't done enough to earn a title shot, because he doesn't have enough top 10 wins" excuse when Anderson continues to duck him and soares doubletalks more gibberish into a microphone somewhere.
You've got kids in this thread who are saying he needs more top wins over ranked opponents right now. Newsflash: the winner of Bisping/Stann is a ranked opponent. Instead of sitting around with his thumb in his ass while Anderson ducks him in sunny Brazil, Weidman is systematically trying to devalue every argument that prevents him from getting a title shot.
It's not the same thing as a champion ducking a #1 contender.

Belcher vs. Weidman would be good... So would Bisping vs. Weidman, but who wants to wait that long.

Weidman vs. Anderson would be better...but who wants to wait that long?

Maia was ranked when Weidman beat him on 10 days notice...and of course, we've learned from Greg Jackson's lesson that 10 days notice really means 4 days notice.

OK, this is the question all of Anderson's defenders have yet to answer, in all the weeks since he's been ducking Chris Weidman: Who is a better fight in the MW division right now?

I'll agree that a champion shouldn't wait around but I don't think Dana should be handing out title shots to people who haven't earned it. Give him one more fight. Then there will be no question who the number one contender is.

Weidman did more than Lietes, Anderson's bestest friend--well, maybe second bestest, after Jon Jones--when Thales got his shot. He's done more than Maia did before Maia got his shot. He's done more than Patrick Cote did, when Cote got his shot. He's done more than Travis Lutter did, when Lutter got his shot. And he's done far more than Anderson himself did, when Anderson got
his title shot.
So please. Don't start pretending that dana gives out shots on merit or something. This is the guy who just offered a LHW title shot to chael sonnen--who has a stunning 0-1 record in at that class in the UFC.
Here's a shockingly simple trick: If there are more than 1 potential #1 contenders in a division,
fight them both in succession! Holy cowz! If Anderson wants to be a legend, let him clear out the division as completely as his fanboys want to
pretend he's
already done. There are more viable threats to Anderson's MW belt right now than there has been in years...and he's chasing a fucking WW.
It's pathetic.
Weidman is healthy, he's willing to fight. Boetsch has a slightly less impressive record and he's injured. If Anderson was one-third the stud his nuthuggers would love him to be, he'd face Weidman right now--giving Georges time to face Condit, since that fight has been on the shelf for half a year--and then Boetsch in the Spring. That would not only resolve issues at MW and WW, but give time for Georges to actually gain the weight to face Silva at 185 and not have the playing field so disgustingly lopsided in Anderson's favor.
*If Weidman fought and beat Belcher, I note that rampage would be the second "person" to whine about his top 10 wins with the caveat that he'd be behind roadog, who may or may not be an actual person. The interweb jury is still out...but I'll give him the benefit of doubt for the purposes of the discussion.
My belief that he's either the most poorly rendered bot or a troll is predicated on this:

Yeah, because Georges--who has never even fought at MW--facing Anderson at 185 over other viable MW contenders is exactly the same as Penn--who not only had competed at 170, but
was a former WW UFC champion and had arguably defeated GSP in their first fight. Yup. It's
exactly the same thing.
I feel so 1upped.
