| Chris Weidman calls out winner of Michael Bisping-Brian Stann rather than Alan Belche Chris Weidman calls out winner of Michael Bisping-Brian Stann rather than Alan Belcher Quote:
Weidman was quoted on this week’s episode of UFC Tonight as saying he wanted to fight the winner of a bout between Michael Bisping-Brian Stann rather than Alan Belcher. Bisping and Stann, who face off on September 22, each have a loss to Chael Sonnen in the not-too-distant past while Belcher has won his last four fights including finishes of Patrick Cote and Rousimar Palhares.
Weidman Willing to Fight Silva in Brazil, Feels He Can Finish Him
Belcher mentioned Weidman’s name in a recent message to fans as who he hoped to fight, targeting November for a potential pairing between the two. Unfortunately for him according to the report, Weidman doesn’t feel a victory over Belcher would do much for his stock and doesn’t view “The Talent” as being any better than other opponents he’s beaten such as Demian Maia and most recently Mark Munoz.

It's true, that fight would help Belcher much more than it would do anything for Weidman. The current debate around contenders really considered Boetch or Weidman, everyone has recognized that Belcher is a win or two away from contention.
With that said, I hope Alan gets the loser of this fight as his return and then a #1 contender fight following that.

I like Belcher, but he's 2 or 3 wins from a contender fight. Calling out Weidman was as silly as Cerrone calling out Pettis and expecting to get a re... ...waitaminute... ...OK, it was just as silly, but that's a crappy example.

rh | With Sonnen gone, Vitor either gone or coming off a loss, Okami performing poorly, Leben coming back from a long layoff, Munoz just getting destroyed and either Bisping or Boetch about to come of a loss... Unless Lombard comes out big soon, I think it'll take fewer than 3 more wins. Plus, with 2 wins, he'd be on a 3 fight streak including Palhares.

i think it's a bad ida for weidman to take a fight w/ bisping before a title shot. bisping usually does well against wrestlers and i think given the experience, he would take weidman.

This is the right decision. I think if he wins he should be the number one contender.

Right now Boetch should be ranked higher than Bisping or Stann. Weidman vs Boetch for the title shot makes more sense
