You raise a good point about the weight cut - is this his first fight at 145? For a guy who relies on his gas tank as much as he does it's pretty risky stepping into a 5 round fight against a beast like Aldo.
I've heard a lot of criticism of Frankie for his fighting style but no one can deny he's got some balls. If he loses to Aldo - and especially if he gets finished - where the hell is there for him to go? Bantamweight? Welterweight?
Strikeforce????
If he loses he could potentially derail his title aspirations at both Lightweight and Featherweight for the forseeable future. The reward is obviously massive but so is the risk.
I'm interested as to what Edgars strategy for this fight will be. How's he gonna approach the stand up against Aldo? How's he gonna use his wrestling? He's used to being the smaller and more mobile fighter so how is he going to game plan this when he's not going to be at such a weight and size disadvantage, while also likely not having the speed advantage?
Frankie's gameplanning has always impressed me, so no doubt he'll be well prepared, but Aldo is a violent dude with legit skills fighting in his preferred weightclass.
Really excited for this one, and I really hope Edgar can become a two division champ!
