Aldo is easily more well rounded than Maynard and more well rounded than Bendo. He is one of the best striker in MMA with one of the biggest tool boxes on the feet. He has great take down defense. If someone gets him down, he is great at getting right back. He is also a 3 time BJJ champion in Brazil. His only real chink in his armor his gas tank is questionable depending on his weight cut.

I would be willing to bet that Edgar keeps him on his back for at least 6 minutes.

Aldo is better both standing and on the ground than Maynard and Bendo. He isnt as good of a wrestler as either of them, but has great TDD. I would say he is more well rounded.

True, but the gap between the wrestling is far greater that the other gaps.

Edgar took down the likes of Sherk, Penn, Maynard and Bendo. If you honestly think for a second that Aldo's takedown defense is better then those 4 then I want what you are smoking.

Also one can make the argument that Edgar's striking is every bit as good as Aldo's. If Aldo is a better striker it is by the slimmest of margins. When was the last time Aldo outstruck a fighter like Penn? When was the last time Aldo TKO'd a monster like Marynard? The answer to both those questions are never.

Aldo better pray that Edgar has a bad cut because if the cut goes well and Edgar is 100% then we will have a brand new FW Champion.

I like this matchup and am excited to watch it. That being said I think it should be a five round non title fight. The UFC is looking ridiculous giving guys title shots coming off losses in different weight classes.

I dont know about that. IMO you are overrating Maynard and Bendo's striking... especially Maynard... who has improved by leaps and bounds since his TUF days, but isnt an elite striker. We really have no way of knowing how good of a wrestler Aldo really is... All we know is that he has a very high TDD rate as well as TD rate. His quickness helps him a lot.

Being a better wrestler doesnt always=better TDD. We have seen it time and time again in MMA. BJ and JDS didnt start wrestling until they were older and getting into MMA. Years behind some of these other guys, but are known for having some of the best TDD ever. Liddell wrestled in college but was nothing special, look how that turned out for him.... even against great wrestlers like Couture and Randallman.

GSP is a great wrestler, but doesnt have the accomplishments and credentials of many of the better wrestlers in the UFC, yet he has some of the best TDD we have ever seen.

Frankie has certainly fought better competition. But if you look at it stylistically, you can see why people see Aldo giving him problems... Frankie typically enjoys a big speed advantage, that is not the case in this fight. Frankie is also very quick with his transitions, but so is Aldo...

Jose also has a much more diverse striking package... Aldo is simply the more talented fighter imo, he will land a big shot and swarm on Edgar...

I definitely changed my stance that Aldo would destroy Edgar with ease. Frankie has really impressed me in his last 4 fights, with Gray and Ben. Ill still take Aldo, but it could go either way.

The key will be the wrestling. If Aldo can stop the takedown, he will win the fight. Frank is very good at setting them up and gets off quickly, so he is a huge threat in that area... He clearly isnt as big or strong as Gray or Ben, but he has better wrestling for MMA than both of them at this point in time IMO. He really stepped his game up since the first Gray fight...

And I really dont remember him purely out-striking BJ. I had Bj winning the first fight... and the 2nd fight was mainly won on his transitions... Kept him guessing... BJ is certainly one of the most skilled fighters out there today, even more so than Aldo... but he definitely isnt as fast or explosive at this point.

What makes you think think Aldo is a better grappler then Maynard and Bendo? I don't think he's ever won a fight on his grappling, where as both Maynard and Bendo have out grappled some excellent grapplers. Also, you have to figure that Aldo is smaller then either guy, and Edgar took them both down.
