| Jon Jones News - Rips 'Old Man Hendo', and why he chose not to pay UFC 151 fighters Jon Jones Blames 'the Old Man and His Knee' for UFC 151 Plans Tonight - MMA Fighting Quote:
Sep 1, 2012 - Jon Jones may be embracing the hate after all.
Hours before his controversial and ill-fated title defense against Dan Henderson would've taken place on Saturday, Jones took to Twitter to toss out one last swipe at his former opponent, essentially blaming Henderson for the cancellation of UFC 151.
In response to a jab from a fan -- "Thanks to (Jon Jones) I have no plans tonight" -- the young UFC light heavyweight champion cheekily replied, "Thanks to the old man and his knee I don't either."
Of course, the old man in question is 41-year-old Henderson, who withdrew from UFC 151's main event eight days out due to an MCL tear in his knee. Jones notoriously rejected a replacement bout against Chael Sonnen, which led UFC President Dana White to cancel the entire event and throw Jones under the bus, issuing a scathing press release that dubbed UFC 151 as "the event Jon Jones and Greg Jackson murdered."
Jones later apologized for the event's mishandling, writing on Twitter, "Carrying the cross for my company's decision. If someone has to take the blame, I will accept full responsibility for the way UFC 151 was canceled."
Jones' latest remarks, however, probably won't help the vocal contingency of fans already questioning the sincerity of that apology.

On the lastest edition of ESPN’s “MMA Live” Espn correspondent Franklin McNeal gave up some insider information about UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“Jon Jones felt so bad about the card being cancelled, he was willing to pay the fighters on that card their fee’s”, said McNeal. “But after all the attackes on him by the other fighters he chose not to do that.”

**Groan** and the Jonny Bones PR train fail-gasm continues...
Gag him. Gag him now. Take away his phone, his tablet, his laptop, EVERYTHING.
If Jon Jones still has access to paper and goddamned matches 24 hours from now (which he will no doubt use to send a series of petulant, counter-productive smoke signals) then his "management" team should be shot on sight for gross incompetence.
There are posters on this forum - many of whom are NOT JONES FANS - who have outlined simple, easy to implement damage control strategies that are orders of magnitude better than anything I've seen from Jones or the people he pays to handle stuff like this for him.

I can not believe how far and fast his public perception has fallen in the last week. He keeps digging himself a deeper and deeper grave. I wouldn't be surprised if the UFC dropped the sponsership of him. Nike dropping him because he isn't a FACE would be funny!

I honestly can't blame him, although I would have advised him to go a head and pay them anyway, just to make them feel like real assholes. Now he only looks like an asshole for considering do it and then changing his mind. The other fighter's reactions where to be expected, they needed someone SAFE to blame, and Dana White isn't a SAFE target no matter how appropriate it may be to blame him. Dana White offered him up as a sacrifice and they decided to vent at Jones. Another bad mistep if true, once again this is someone's word, not from Jon Jone's lips. Who knows who Mcneal's source is of if he/she's telling the truth.
Jones needs to stay the fuck off of twitter IMO, but if he wants to keep at it, then more power to him. He better make damn sure he keeps winning if he's going to go tit for tat with other fighters and the fans. Believe or not I've been in quite a few flame wars on the internet.....ok fuckers stop laughing. Hell I'm banned from Sherdog because I got into a flame war with Michael Shivello, he called me a "delusional douchbag" I'm quite proud of that.
Anyway flame wars are rarely ever really worth it. My advise would be to lay low and deal with your family and friends only for a while. Keep winning but Starve the media and the fans, until they are pissing themselves to hear what you have to say.
