“I’m very excited”, Sobral told TATAME, on an exclusive interview, not knowing who will be his first opponent on the game. Renato fought last time in the Unites States at Strikeforce, on December of 2010, when was defeated by Dan Henderson.
At Bellator, he knows he needs three wins at the GP to have a shot at the title of the division, which is now held by Christian M’Pumbi. “The best thing about this kind of tournament is that the matchmaker doesn’t have to do anything. You gotta win in order to become the champion”, the vet’ compliments.
Sobral knows this won’t be an easy path, pointing King Mo Lawal out as one of the light heavyweight tough guys, but not fingering anyone. “Therei’s no one in particular. The champion doesn’t have a say on it either (laughs)”, jokes.
The Brazilian will do his preparation at Rafael Cordeiro’s team - Kings MMA – and his own team. Besides that, he will be welcomed at Black House. “There’s Lyoto, Rafael dos Anjos, Roger (Gracie), and many wrestlers. I trained with them two or three times because I fought before them and then I went to Brazil”.
