Lindland and Henderson both actively pursued a fight with Fedor. They asked, he agreed. That's not the case here, with Anderson asking, and Georges [eventually] agreeing.

Penn and Serra had both competed at WW. Penn held the WW championship before he held the LW championship. Again, apples and carburators...two entirely different things.

but at the same time Jones is criticized for not wanting to fight Anderson or Sonnen... If he did, he would probably be called a bully anyways... you cannot win with some of these fickle fans.

I'm not criticizing Jones for not wanting to fight Anderson. I'm criticizing him for pretending it's because they're bestest friends.

Returning UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has attempted to quell speculation of a forthcoming super-fight against middleweight title-holder Anderson Silva.

St-Pierre has not fought in over a year after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament in training during 2011. The Canadian was given the green light to return to MMA by his medical team at the end of August, however - immediately sparking speculation about who he would fight in the future.

The 31-year-old is due to return to the Octagon at UFC 154 against interim champion Carlos Condit, but fans have continued to speculate about a looming showdown with Silva in 2013.

The two men are widely regarded as the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, but St-Pierre is angry at those looking ahead to a potentially mouth-watering duel when he already has a tough comeback fight on his hands.

"It's terrible. I hate that, but I'm not focusing on that. I'm not speculating," St-Pierre told MMA Weekly. "I'm thinking about Condit right now; that's what I should do."

St-Pierre hinted that he will look to take on other welterweight opponents after Condit to reassert his dominance in the division, having grown suspicious that some people no longer think he is the same fighter he once was.

"I feel like I have a lot of guys that are there and I don't understand why people are going crazy now, but I just came back from an injury, so maybe some people see me as a weak link," he said. "We'll see what's going to happen in the future."

This is what keeps happening, and this is exactly what rivethead was talking about. It doesn't matter what Anderson or Soares says, or what Firas says, GSP is clearly not focused on Anderson. He has said the same thing in the last 3 years.

If Anderson wants to stay MW champion, he should defend his belt. If Anderson wants big fights, forfeit the MW championship, and chase after them (whether they're flyweights or heavyweights).

If Anderson wants to stay MW champion, he should defend his belt. If Anderson wants big fights, forfeit the MW championship, and chase after them (whether they're flyweights or heavyweights).

That's my point. Not only would the MW belt be devalued and delayed, the WW belt would too. People assume I have a problem with GSP losing--and believe me, I don't--but I'd feel the same thing if he were to step up and face Jones and delay the LHW belt as well.

It's a pretty simple formula for me: Vanity fights should not effect the title schedule.


Hell, if Anderson wants to vacate the MW belt, he can cut down to 145 and grapple Ronda Roussey, or bounce up to 206 and demand Fedor come out of retirement and face him for all I care.

But don't fuck up the integrity of the MW belt in doing so, and absolutely don't fuck up a belt in a second weight class.

Anderson, Dana, Lorenzo and Soares are the ones who want this fight. GSP has only stated that there is a possibility of it happening. What does GSP's response mean to you? To me it means that he has not decided.

GSP does not want to be distracted by the media at present with this superfight. GSP does recognize that Condit is a far more dangerous opponent than Serra and should not be overlooked.

I do see this fight taking place because GSP will be forced into it but if GSP looks past Condit, he could be going to sleep like he did against Serra.

Anderson has a voice. That voice can speak English. The voice can speak to Joe Silva or Dana White.


You keep thinking that Ed Soares makes decisions without consulting with Anderson, which is hilarious.
