Weidman deserves the shot, and does pose styleistic problems with Anderson... but some people are taking it too far...

Is he more of a threat than guys like Hendo, Sonnen, Vitor, etc...

I have also seen people say that Weidman would beat both GSP and Anderson... some even wanted him to fight Jones...

I hope we see this fight sooner than later...

As for weidman, that fight will happen eventually... If he beats Boetch... then there is no case to be made as to why he doesnt deserve a title shot...

To make Anderson and camp happy, the UFC should also put on a big Co-Main event to draw in more PPV buys, to make up for Anderson's lack of draw... although they should be doing that in the first place... Instead of banking cards around just the main event...

put someone like Machida, Penn, etc in the co-main or even a title fight at one of the smaller classes.
There I fixed it.

He absolutely will not look beyond his current opponent and he shouldn't but regardless he has expressed equal interest. Please don't make it sound like GSP is being bullied into fighting Silva.

If GSP wins then watch the post fight against Condit (we all know what Rogan is going to ask him). I will bet just about anything he publically goes on record on his quest to fight Silva.
GSP is a fighter which is why he isn't outright saying no to this fight like Jones is. To say he has expressed equal interest is bullshit. I don't ever remember GSP sitting on the fence healthy waiting to fight Edgar while legitimate contenders are waiting for fights.

Its now or probably never and make no mistake fans want to see this fight.
That's all correct but it doesn't change the fact that Anderson is waiting not defending his title while angling himself to get a fight with a smaller fighter.

How many fights Weidman has in comparison to Anderson's defenses has nothing to do with his legitimacy as a contender. If you're going to use that logic eventually nobody with under 20 fights will even be elligible to fight Silva.

The difference is that Couture and Fedor weren't champions. Nobody is going to reference those fights when talking about Randy's or Fedor's careers except in a somewhat quizzical manner.

Fighters move up in weight when they've "cleaned out" their divisions. They don't move down. Especially when they've not only already fought at the upper weight class but also because they, their management, the media and their fans all consistently brag about those outings at higher weight classes.

Don't believe Anderson will get close to 6 years maybe 6 fights.

On contenders for Anderson if Soares would stop flooding the media that every fighter isn't worthy to fight him maybe he would draw better money.

GSP verses Silva This is a fight the UFC wants to happen$$$$ probely each of the sponsers too, or at least keep the idea in the air. All sponsers want their fighter in the public eye to help sell their product. GSP has been out of the loop for awhile and my guess is his sponsers wanted something like this talk to put him in the lime light again.
Soares being what I think of him likes the GSP fight as a winnable fight with a great draw$$$ If he wanted his fighter to make a great legacy fighting Jones would be in the talks.

It has already been established that 6 fights equals 6 years for Anderson. Hell he might even hold out for a fight against Michael Bisping Jr. in 2030 or a super fight against an Anderson Silva cyborg/human clone hybrid in 2042.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I'm actually happy to read that Silva wants to fight another 6 years. I enjoy watching him fight. All bullshit and crying aside, 6 fights means you'll likely see him fight GSP, Weidman, maybe Diaz and then 3 more fights. I know I will be entertained him fight 6 additional times. Hopefully for Silva, his last 6 fights go better for him than they did for Fedor/Couture/Liddell/Tito/CroCop/etc.
