i thought he has had lingering injuries, thats why he's cut down his schedule so much the last two years

Are there six good welterweights that can sell vanity fight PPV's? At some point, doesn't Karo Parisyan come into that scenario? Jeeeeesh.

And if Weidman fights 3 times a year, that's 18 contenders he has to beat for soares to still say he doesn't deserve a fight with Anderson. Man, that's gotta be depressing.

I think that's being optimistic...

he still fights more than gsp. not every champion is gonna be a jon jones or bj penn and fight 3-4 times a year. plus i give anderson a pass considering his age.

Ofcourse it is. It reminds me of Tito Ortiz claiming he had another 5 years in him now look at him. Means nothing and sometimes fighters have to be shown by other fighters that its time to hang it up.

Perhaps Silva will take the path of his idle and find out the hardway. On Weidman (the guy that thinks hes too good to fight Belcher) hopefully he will be made short work of by someone so we can move on to better challenges for Silva.

People should remember that a few years ago, before the Cote fight I think, he said he was going to retire after 6 more fights. 6 more years might be pushing it.
He has done a pretty amazing job of staying injury free throughout his career though. I don't think he's ever had to pull out of a fight in the UFC and he still seems very fast and athletic for a 37 year old. He could probably go for another couple years, but I personally hope he retires while he's still on top and we don't have to go through another Chuck, Tito, or Fedor scenario.

Belcher/Vitor was booked before Anderson said he "couldn't" fight Weidman. Once that happened and Vitor got moved to fight Jones, Weidman had already been making his case for a #1 contender's fight. Considering DW had him as the #1 contender prior, this just makes sense. He's fighting similarly ranked fighters and continuing towards the title. Weidman hasn't ducked anyone, stop saying things that are clearly and demonstrably false just because you feel a need to defend Silva.

As far as "better challenges?" How about whoever wins from the rankings?? Boetch is well ranked, Weidman is well ranked. They'll fight, a contender will be established. Then you and Silva will cry that whoever it is "isn't worthy." But it doesn't matter, this is a sport and the rankings are what they are.

The odds are that if Silva stays for six more years, he'll leave without the belt. New challengers are always coming and unless he goes on a steady TRT diet, I doubt his body will keep up.
