| Dana White: False that Jones didn't know about UFC 151 cancellation Dana White: False that Jones didn't know about UFC 151 cancellation Quote:
During Thursday’s UFC 152 pre-fight press conference, which UFC President Dana White wasn’t able to attend, Jon Jones stated the organization never informed him they were going to cancel UFC 151 if he declined a last-second fight against Chael Sonnen to salvage the September 1st event.
“I really don’t know,” Jones said after taking seven long seconds contemplating the question. “I don’t know if it would have made much of a difference if they had told me. But they didn’t tell me that they were going to cancel the fight.”
White informed FUEL TV that Jones knew exactly what was going to happen if he shunned Sonnen.
“I’m glad he said some things,” said White. “I don’t think he would have said that if I was there. It was false that he didn’t know that UFC 151 would be canceled if he didn’t take the fight. I told him it would.
“I think he’s acting like he’s taking it all very lightly. I don’t know if he’s embarrassed. There was a lot of collateral damage from the fallout. He needs to take it seriously. There’s been a lot of fans turn on him.”

The two met after today's weigh ins, and according to multiple reports, the conversation went well, giving hope that the relationship between the sport's most powerful figure and what is destined to be its biggest star can move forward positively. Whether fans come around to Jones remains to be seen. The boos and chants of "Jon Jones sucks" at the weigh ins, indicate that that may take a while longer.

I believe Dana. Dana would have did anything to save the card, so I doubt he would forget to mention that the card is about to get canned.

I keep getting suckered in and read these forums. This is however going to be the last one on this topic. I've been consistent with my belief that Jones was fake, long before this happened. He's proven to be worse than I thought and Dana is pissed because Jones being such a diva put the spot light on Dana's lack of preparation to have secondary plans already in place. Just another one of Dana's short comings proving the sport has moved beyond him and his novelty.
Time for a new, more professional leader of the UFC. The brash, cursing, fat, wanna be tough, jazzersize goof has helped immensely, but he is also one of the UFC's primary stumbling blocks to mainstream acceptance. Time for him to go and I hope Jones gets KTFO.

jon jones is as real as it gets when he is inside the octagon but outside hes not only fake but hes bad for the ufc, id say dana is now allergic to bones with his ear disease coming back, seriously how many failsafes can you have as a promoter for each and every fight card, we are talking about human assets here and still you cant expect the a fighter already ready to fight on the card pussin' out. jones has no intregrity i believe he knew the card was going to be cancelled and still the cocky fake said during the press conference if he had known he still wouldnt have changed his mind he doesnt care about anything but himself. anderson silva on the other hand has proven that he has level of loyalty respect & intregrity as liddell and hughes by taking short notice fights to help the promotion that helped him get where he is at today

I said it when the news first hit that they were cancelling the ppv and I'll say it now. There is no way that Dana White didn't explain at length the repercussions for Jones turning down the fight with Chael. I read an article that said that cancelling UFC 151 lost the parties involved with the even roughly 40 million dollars. I guarantee as soon as the thought of cancelling the ppv crossed Dana's mind he started doing the math. He knew what it was going to cost and he most likely explained it to Jones.
Without that title fight on the card, the card was far too weak to go on. Ticket holders would have been asking for their money back and no one would have paid for the ppv. There is no sense putting on a show if no one is going to watch it.

its all irrelevant at this point. i was pissed at first like most but somethin changed my mind at the prefight presser. jones is my age so its easier for me to give him the benefit of a doubt on a lot of his unpopular actions.
hes not fake just a tad immature.
