That GSP/Anderson Silva fight is just talk, it’s not reality. I know a lot of people are counting Stephan Bonnar out and think that this fight is a joke and everything else. Stephan Bonnar has never been finished in the UFC, he’s never been knocked out, he’s never been submitted by anybody and he’s been fighting all the best at 205 his entire career. From Jon Jones to you name it, he’s fought them all.

I haven’t even talked to Georges St-Pierre or Anderson Silva about those guys fighting each other. If things all work out that way we’ll see what happens, but there’s no guarantee that fight’s going to happen

He is being respectful of his teammates although the funny part is he already said no Brazillian can beat Jon Jones yet.

If he was forced by Dana he would do it but its not in his interest to pursue the lhw title. On that same token Jon Jones also indicated that he has no desire to fight Silva.

That door swings both ways.
To me its no different than Henderson refusing to fight Sonnen. When and if that time comes will either be a pussy?

With Jones on his current run, there now seems to be a lot of interest in a super fight pitting the UFC’s light heavyweight champion against Anderson Silva.

But while Silva has gone up to 205lbs for a few bouts when the UFC has asked him to in the past, it’s not a long term plan for him, and he has no plans of staying there to challenge Jon Jones at any point in time.

“Well, there are many possibilities but fighting Jon Jones is one of them that I don’t think is possible,” Silva said on Thursday. “There’s no way.”

Silva has never been shy in saying that he’s not comfortable going up to 205lbs outside of the times the UFC has asked him to make the move, and his goal is to finally face St-Pierre if he ever does a ‘super fight’.

There is no doubt in my mind that Silva is scared that he would lose to Jones. This BS about giving his teammates the opportunity to take the belt from Jones - what would prevent Silva from vacating the belt, should he win it from Jones, to just going right back to the MW division to carry on from where he left off, and giving as much opportunity to his teammates as they had before he would have won it?

The way he is handling this really comes off as ridiculous. The guy has fought, and is about to fight again at LHW, yet he wouldn't jump at the chance of fighting for the belt, and being able to make the claim that he is/has been Champ in more than 1 weight class? If he had never fought at LHW before, then his stance would hold a lot more merit. Yet, he is so keen on fighting a lighter Champ in GSP???

Despite Anderson Silva saying again that he would not be fighting Jon Jones at some point in the future, UFC president Dana White is telling fans it will happen.

Silva may just wait to see what all kinks Jones has in his armor. After he gets a good look Jones, and he gets comfortable than take him on. Jones if not careful and still will let his gaurd down some and get exposed may not lose but still exposed.

Scared is a very loaded term.

I don't think he's frightened, as in a little kid being afraid of a bully who told him to meet him at 3pm by the basketball court.

I think he thinks the size differential poses a risk that outweighs the reward. I think if he can spin it so he retires undefeated while raking in cash, he'd obviously want to do that.

But Anderson's logic is incredibly flawed, particularly in light of his main defense in pursuing the smaller opponent in GSP is that he only wants big $$ fights. Jones would represent a big $$ fight, but simply one that he has a much higher chance of losing.

If you have to characterize Silva as frightened of anything, it would be of losing money, of losing his reputation. And that might even be a stretch, as nobody really knows what he's thinking.

I just wish he'd lose soares. Lose him somewhere that nobody will ever find him again.

Personally, I don't want to see either superfight. I want to see champions defend their belts. But that's probably just me.
