But Anderson's logic is incredibly flawed, particularly in light of his main defense in pursuing the smaller opponent in GSP is that he only wants big $$ fights. Jones would represent a big $$ fight, but simply one that he has a much higher chance of losing.
If you have to characterize Silva as frightened of anything, it would be of losing money, of losing his reputation. And that might even be a stretch, as nobody really knows what he's thinking.
I just wish he'd lose soares. Lose him somewhere that nobody will ever find him again.
Personally, I don't want to see either superfight. I want to see champions defend their belts. But that's probably just me.
rh | Thing is that... it is impossible for Anderson to retire undefeated.
The man has already been defeated.
Anderson's ego will not allow him to take the fight, that's all it comes down to.

rh | Its not just you. I think I said it in response to all this superfight blather before, but if you have 2 fights consecutively out of your weight class, you should forfeit your belt. Overeem gets ragged on about his situation with the SF hw title, but this wouldnt be a lot different. Its still a guy, holding a belt, and not defending it.

I’m old, guys. I’m getting old. I’m retired. I’m nearly there. I’ve only got another five years. I think [GSP] would be a great challenge for me. I prefer him over Jon Jones. He’s smaller. It’ll be a little bit easier. I’ll be hit less.”
While talking to the media following last Saturday’s dominant win over Stephan Bonnar, the pound-for-pound king, Anderson Silva discussed whats next in super fights

They should hold that against him?
Also Dana is very interested in Anderson fighting GSP or Jones... Those fights dont happen without the UFC's approval... especially fights that big, champion vs. champion fight...
then they strip him of his belt...
Anderson doesnt make the fights... If they ask him to fight at MW and defend his belt, and he doesnt it is a different story... Anderson may complain about fighting certain opponents, but he ends up fighting them, that is what matters.

Silva is simultaneously saying that he'll fight for another five years but doesn't see himself ever fighting Weidman. Weidman was declared the #1 contender by DW months ago.

They should hold that against him? | You're messing this up a bit. Anderson called dana, and offered to fight at 151, anyone at LHW who wasn't training. When that didn't happen, he offered a future fight. That's when dana called him. It wasn't as if dana did this out of the blue. Anderson was actively seeking a fight outside of his MW.
If dana does manage to throw enough money at Georges to get him to bite, that will be two consecutive fights out of the weight class, when it's got more viable contenders than it has in...well, ever.
Couple that with his discussion that he'd be a fool to fight Weidman, and however you spin it, you're still left with a picture of a champion who doesn't want to defend. Quote: |

| Not always.
Regardless, what I want, and what other people seem to be looking for, is simply for Anderson to be enthusiastic about fighting contenders. In addition to his skillset, in addition to his accolades, in addition to the records he has already set and may set in the future; simply being ready, open and willing to fight the best his division has to offer would be a characteristic fitting of such an incredible fighter.
But it's just not going to happen.
It's too bad, really. We're approaching a point where MW's have literally grown up dreaming of facing him, and he's just not showing any interest.
And no, he doesn't have to. There isn't a rule somewhere that he's breaking. It's not part of his job description.
But it would be awesome if it were part of his legend. He'd be even greater than he is now. Quote:

People think I hate him because I'm openly critical and I don't drink the love-festival-koolaide his fanboys do, but I'm actually a huge fan. I'm just frustrated, very similar as I was with Fedor, that he's not a complete fighter, that he's lost interest in accepting challenges and threats. If he does accept them, it's begrudgingly, and that's unfortunate.

rh | Couldn't agree more. I love watching Silva fight, he's amazing. I love seeing the training videos too, he's every bit as thoughtful, relaxed, and fun as you'd expect from what you see on fight night. But it's awful listening to his interviews and press recently.
