After the UFC 153 Open Workouts, Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting caught up with Nogueira to see if he had regrets after not tapping to Mir's submission:

The decision I made when we were fighting, I was thinking about winning. I really thought I was going to escape the submission. We escape one, I roll one, two times. I was trying to move my shoulder up. In the same movement I moved that way, he did the other way.

Minotauro Nogueira ‘Happy, Healthy’ To Be Back Fighting At UFC 153

Quote:

I’m very happy to be back. My arm is healthy and I’ve rehabbed it so hard I think it is now stronger than my other arm. I had to work hard for so long to get my strength and power back, and I am so happy to be fighting in Rio.
Quote:

“Dave Herman is a good wrestler, has a great double-leg and is a big guy,” Nogueira said. “He talks smack about BJJ but he’s not fought someone with submissions like me before. I will knock him out or submit him.”

If the technology/magic existed for us to be able to interview Nog's arm, I'm sure it would have a different opinion on not tapping.

Nog is going to teach Herman what BJJ is.

I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair when I read this because Big Nog TAPPED OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can he say he didn't tap out when he did!!!!!!!

That sure looks like a tap to me at 10 seconds.

The Muss 10-11-2012 11:17 AM

Yeah I thought he tapped as soon as it broke!

disposableassassin 10-11-2012 11:31 AM

I remembered him tapping as well. That to me is the same as people not acknowledging that shogun tapped in the jones fight.

Maybe you should re-read it then.

Where does he say he didn't tap? He says he doesn't regret the decision because he thought he could escape.

He didn't tap until his arm was broken. Once the arm was broken the fight was getting stopped anyway. The fact that he tapped after is irrelevant to what he is saying here.

Yes "IT" said he doesn't regret not tapping. He did not say that the title of the article said it. I am fairly certain Nog didn't write this article.

goes to show you that even black belts have a massive ego. Nog thought he would teach Mir a lesson and Mir pwn'd him. Mir > Fedor.
