For god's sake... Silva just PROVED that he has the size to compete with the LHW's. Bonnar is about as big as a 205er gets!
And now he wants to "challenge" himself by fighting a WW??!?
NOT impressive... and NOT something that makes me change my mind on how Anderson pretty shamelessly picks and chooses his fights.
No offense to the NUTHUGGERS... but the whole "anyone, anytime, anyplace" crap they were playing up in the promos to UFC 153... what a joke. Tell that to Weidman. Or better yet, to Bones.
If a champ wants to PROVE that he is the GREATEST... he moves UP in weight. NOT DOWN!
Plain and simple.
Just my two cents. | Would rep you if could, completely agree with this.

But I agree with you...
GSP should be calling out Anderson... IF he wants to prove himself "the greatest". He shouldn't be calling out BEN HENDERSON. (And he's not)
Jones should be calling out JDS... IF he wants to prove himself "the greatest"... or challenge himself... He shouldn't be calling out SILVA. (And, he's not)
Silva should be calling out JONES.
Not GSP.
So I don't disagree with you... it's not "all about Anderson"...
But he seems to be the only one of the three who is clamoring for a fight with the SMALLER fighter... and ADAMANTLY refusing to fight the larger fighter.
That's not "great" to me.
It's just sorta lame.
BJ Penn is a great example... there's a fighter who CHALLENGED himself... and it sure wasn't by fighting SMALLER guys.
Silva could learn a thing or two.
Just my two cents. | I agree with some of your points but I think its more about two fighters that dominated their division, meeting in the octagon. Its what the casual MMA fan truly wants to see. I don't think weight class makes a difference if you move up or down. I think if GSP is going to move up, he should get a warm-up fight otherwise make the fight a Catch Weight. GSP and Anderson Silva have the longest streaks going therefore if its possible they can meet in the octagon everybody says "Why the fuck not?"

Just my two cents. | Silva doesn't care about proving he is the greatest when in every other interview he is telling you already he isn't the best. These are words coming from the media and fight fans.
Anderson simply wishes to test himself against guys whom he feel is the best one being GSP. Much like Hendo he doesn't request to fight people he doesn't think he can beat so please stop crying about Jon Jones whose expressed his disinterest in fighting Silva as well. It's not happening.
These arguments on why GSP shouldn't fight Silva isn't doing him any favors especially considering GSP is a big ww already. Like Silva GSP chooses to fight where he is comfortable but however has expressed interest in fighting Silva at a catchweight.
Noone is being bullied and GSP is no pussy and infact has a good chance at defeating Silva with his speed and wrestling.

Just my two cents. | So wait, you think GSP wouldn't beat the same class of opponents at middleweight that AS has beaten at LHW.
Lets be honest here.. GSP would probably smash people in the same skill bracket at middleweight.
Matter of fact I'd say GSP would grapplefuck Lombard, Bisping, and probably Belfort with ease.
Who do you really think would beat GSP at middleweight? I mean handle him.
I think people are forgetting GSP's skill and thinking more about his size.

In martial arts size isn't the final factor. If a guy has the skills, he can use his size disadvantage to his advantage. It's all about taking the fight in the quarters that suits you. Unfortunately with Silva I just don't know of any quarters that would suit his opponents, maybe taking his back is his biggest weakness.....good luck trying to get there though.....

I think Joe Silva should just let Anderson fight Frankie Edgar and get it over with.

I'd go:
Glover vs Phil Davis
Jon Fitch vs Martin Kampmann
Anderson Silva vs GSP (if he wins his next fight)
Nog vs Cormier for Strikeforce Title
Eric Silva vs Josh Koscheck
Wagner Prado vs Ryan Bader
