OK, didn't see it as tongue in cheek when you wrote it at first.

Not at all, Anderson's stance is very strange... He doesnt want to fight Jones because he is "too big" yet doesn't see how GSP thinks Anderson is too big...

To be fair, I've never seen Anderson--or even soares--say that it's because Jones is too big. I've really only seen the "we're friends" thing repeated ad nauseum.

My problem is that... When Anderson says this... his critics come back with... he should have to fight Jones... 2 wrongs dont make a right...

I'm one of the most vocal critics of Anderson's current endeavors, and I'm not asking for a Jones fight. I do point out that his statement "I only want big $$ fights" is hypocritical, in that Jones is, indeed, a big money fight for him, but I'm not a fan of superfights in general. I don't think the general public of casual MMA fans knows enough about the sport to understand them. Most people still think a win over Penn does a lot for Georges' pound for pound ranking, for instance.

The exact same thing they are complaining about, when he asks for GSP... It seems Anderson and his haters have more in common than it would appear... they cannot see blatant double standards...

What I would love to have seen is Anderson--or really, soares--ask for GSP, and when he stated he wasn't interested, that he wanted to focus on his division after the long layoff, that it simply went away. That nobody kept bringing it up over and over again. Even if he would have said "well, a fight with Georges would have been great, but he's not interested, so I'm looking forward to fighting X instead..." that would have been great. It wouldn't make him look like a punkass chasing a smaller, disinterested fighter for a vanity fight.
If you think about it, the fact that he's put a potential out there is really enough...you know dana is going to be working overtime, trying to wear down Georges to make it happen...let dana do the dirty work and Anderson's hands could have been entirely clean. He could have mentioned it in private to dana after any public statements, and his PR would have been better.
I don't care if he fights Jones, but the same concept applies. I'm sure dana is working that angle this morning, in some way or another, because it's $$.
Actually, at this point, I don't care if Anderson retires. He's accomplished ridiculous things; I'm fine with him going out after pwning Bonnar. But I don't want him to do anything stupid to tarnish his reputation, or MMA in general, and the insistence on GSP instead of a more valid MW does exactly that.
