I know that this TUF will have great ratings and that this fight will get a lot of buys.
But seriously this is a big "Fuck you" not only to guys like Hendo or Machida, but actually to all the LHW and generally all the UFC roster.

Basically this shows that you can come from a loss, you can talk some shit on Twitter, and you will inmediately get a spot as a TUF coach and get a title shot in a division you not only have never accomplished anything, but you have not even fought there for the last 6 years.

The only positive thing about all this is that Chael Sonnen will get an epic beating, and he deserves it for being a cheater, a corrupt scumbag that gets title shots thanks to his trolling on Twitter.

Fuck Dana White! This fight is a freakshow.
Even Anderson vs Bonnar was more logical than this.

He stepped up to fight Bones when asked, the same cant be said for Shogun, Machida, etc. He was there for the UFC when they needed him to be, and its a you scratch my back ill scratch yours situation. TUF is dead in the water, this potentially saves it, It gives Jon Jones even more press to fix his image amongst the fans, they both (sonnen and jones) get to pass on their knowledge to kids trying out for TUF...and thats only the TUF reasons behind making this fight.

There is also the history that surrounds this fight now, Jones running his mouth before Hendo pulled out, Hendo pulls out they offer Jones sonnen he turns it down and looks like a coward and they cancel their 1ST EVER card because of that decision. The shit talking continued from both sides and the rest is history.

Everyone can say Sonnen talked his way into this fight, but Jones has done his fair share of talking to make this fight happen as well.

I just think its funny that people are reacting like this is the first ever time a person has been given a title shot they didnt "deserve"...At the end of the day its a fight and in a fight anything can happen, and looking at those odds i may have to drop some cash on sonnen to win this fight, could be an easy way to make money

Chael being a scumbag doesn't make this a terrible fight, the matchup does. I've said many times that anything can happen in a fight, but I honestly think Chael has very close to zero chance of winning this fight. I would not pay $60 to watch this on ppv. Hell, I wouldn't even waste my money going to a bar to see this. And Jones is my favorite fighter. If I have nothing better to do that night I'll stream it just to see Chael get his ass kicked. Nobody that isn't completely on Chaels nuts would actually rather see this fight than Jones vs Hendo, Gus, Glover, or Machida.

As far as everyone acting like 15 year old girls, I haven't really checked, but I don't think anyone has gotten so pissed over this that they made some long dramatic thread about how they quit the forum only to come back like a day later. At least not yet.

Yeah Sonnen stepped up against Jones when nobody else would but to be honest, he would probably just have quit and collected a fat check the first time he got put in a bad situation, just like he did against Anderson. The way he was finished in that fight was totally laughable...and he goes from that joke of a fight to moving up in weight to challenge for the title? And imo you can not blame Shogun or Machida for not taking a fight with a very short camp while Jones had an entire one.

I don't think Sonnen is as overmatched as probably most do. This will be a competitive fight.

However, the fight to make would have been Silva / Jones. MMA is going down the road of boxing...albeit slowly.

How is this going to be competitive. Sonnen's plan of just rushing forward is going to backfire really quickly going against someone with such a long reach and who can dish out some pretty devastating strikes, not to mention Chael is probably fucked once he gets put on his back. However, if Jones gets put on his back, I don't really see him being in much trouble at all. We haven't seen Jones off of his back much but I'd bet that he's good enough to sub Chael lol

I cant tell if you are serious with that statement...but to suggest he just flops and quits to collect a fat check is crazy. This isnt bob sapp we are talking about here, he ate a deadly knee and thats it, did it look laughable absolutely he fell on his ass like a fool but hey, shit happens right? he didnt flop and quit thats forsure. Saying Sonnen quit is like saying Bonnar quit to get a pay check when he ate that knee from Silva.

Also, what makes Machida / Shogun vs. Jones better than Sonnen vs. Jones (other than their track record in the LHW division)? Both have already faught Jones and both were finished in devastating fashion, what makes people think it will be different this time around? Hendo and Gustavsson may have a right to be upset, but Machida and Shogun not so much (and they were both offered the fight and said no...all be it on short notice, but still said no to the fight)

Kev, you know how a man's love and passion for a sport can affect him. We all love MMA. I know I do. Of course there's bigger things to bitch about when comparing it to the realm of reality. We're talking about MMA here though and specifically the UFC. It's one of the few things I have to get me away from all that "bigger" bullshit, trust me. I love fights and will always watch. However, I thought we were supporting something bigger than just the fight. They have been preaching it for years and tons of guys have taken shit all along while trying to argue to the critics that it's becoming, and will be, a real sport. This kind of arrangement flushes all of that down the toilet.

I love entertainment as much as the next guy. It most definitely has a place in MMA. However, there is a fine line to that. This crosses it, IMO. I'd choose accomplishment and an orderly system over pure entertainment any day when it comes to MMA. I appreciate the entertainment aspect of it but when it comes down to it, I watch to watch the best guys in the world fight each other, like dbader says. I'd much rather watch MMA as a sport than as an entertainment industry any day. I don't EVER want it to become just entertainment and that is why this is outraging so many people like myself. I'm not saying I don't enjoy that aspect of it but there's a limit to it.

Those of us who are pissed off about this are so because we don't want to see something we love go to shit. We are pissed because we desperately want to see MMA grow into a real sport, something much bigger than it is right now. Because we love the damn thing. The UFC holds all the power to the direction in which MMA is going, unfortunately, and if they start doing conducting themselves this way, it will be extremely saddening to many fans who actually care about more than just the fights themselves. It's not so much the parties involved in this match up but what it represents which is the fact that it shits all over any idea of this being a competition involving sense and a working system.

Dude, if that's how you feel, that's how you feel. I, on the other hand, feel the absolute opposite. While I love the purity of fights, I have grown to love it as a sport. I want legitimacy. I want it to become something much larger. I love it and DO NOT want it to die... I give a big fuck. I don't enjoy too many things but this is one of them and I want to see it excel. I said I love watching fights alone but I want to see guys working toward and earning something bigger than just the win itself, too.

Like I said, i'll always watch fights. But it's way better with the sport aspect attached to it. I thought the majority of people here felt that way, too. Guess I was wrong. Way wrong.

The sad thing is that we are going to have to hear about this until April. Damn I hope Bellator really rolls shit out for their new home at spyke. I am just sad that Hendo/Machida/Shogun/anyone who is a light heavy is getting passed over. Oh well...

Who does Forrest fight now? I say Bonnar, or page in a rematch.
