| Daniel Cormier ready to end relationship with Strikeforce Daniel Cormier ready to end relationship with Strikeforce : Five Ounces of Pain Quote:
It’s likely none of the fighters scheduled for Strikeforce’s since-cancelled November 3 card took news of the company’s decision harder than heavyweight Daniel Cormier. Cormier was scheduled to headline the show in what would have been his final appearance under the organization’s banner before moving on to the UFC with the added bonus of fighting in city he called home for a few years while wrestling in college at Oklahoma State.
While Cormier doesn’t harbor any hard feelings about the event being axed, the delay in action has left him anxious to move on from Strikeforce and focus on his future beyond the promotion’s boundaries. Quote: |
“(The final fight is) what I owe to that organization and Showtime for all they’ve done for me. It was never a negative. But now it’s drifting along, drifting along. I’m ready for it to get done,” said Cormier in an interview with Inside MMA.
| As disappointed as Cormier was about the recent development, he’s hopeful the extra time the situation produced will give his original opponent – Frank Mir – a chance to recover from a leg injury he suffered in the gym ultimately forcing him to withdraw from the fight. Quote: |
“I don’t have an opponent. But with the two-month delay, hopefully Frank Mir’s injury is healed up and he’s ready to go,” explained Cormier before admitting he’s not even 100% sure he’ll be booked for Strikeforce’s alleged return to the airwaves in January. “I haven’t been told I’m fighting for sure, but if they’re promising a stacked card, I’m hoping I’m one of those guys they look at and as a guy you put [me] on the card and it instantly becomes a little bit better.”

If the plan is to bring DC over to the ufc, Zuffa isnt doing anyone any favours at all by dragging him along...

I think it's Showtime that is keeping this thing on life support. They are having a hard time pulling the plug.

If they can have mismatched Main event PPVs in the UFC then getting together a Strikeforce card to get all this over with shouldn't be hard.

These guys fight for a living...it's not fair to have so little fight opportunities for them.

I do not think Zuffa is going to give them one. Quote:

I honestly don' t think they lose any sleep if these guys starve in the meantime. They've pulled all the cash plums out of the pie already--with the possible exception of Ronda, and that remains to be seen if she's a draw or not.
It would make sense to make efforts to buy the contracts out, or to move fighters over to fulfill some big contracts--I don't know how many fights Rockhold has, but I know Melendez has a bunch--but I don't think Zuffa cares. I certainly don't think they'll do cards for all of them.
I would not be surprised if this is some petty grudge nonsense from dana over the utter failures he had with Showtime back in the day.
I'm betting that right about now, it's got to be hard to for Cormier to hear a mope like Jones whine about being treated like meat when he has no idea what it's like out from under the golden umbrella in a shit storm.

They should of just brought him over and let him coach opposite of Jones on tuf. He's not getting any younger, they should keep him busy or at least in some kinda spotlight.

see, I can rhyme too.
It's not about taking care of great fighters. It's certainly not about keeping even a nanogram of credibility in the industry.
It's all about bringing in benjamins.
