And i would consider pretty much everyone on here an above then casual average fan. (I mean we all took the time to sign up for a forum lol). I usually judge these situation by the demographic among my circle of friends. I watch the fights with about 10-12 same guys every time. And out of those me and another guy are considered hardcore fans, the rest of my boys just like watching guys scrap. The bigger the names the better. The more drama, the better. They could really care less about who is "deserving" of the next title fight. I think that its them that Dana is trying to appeal too.

Actually you can make a good case for DC. He is undefeated, a HW, and also the SF HW tourney winner.

Jones vs Cormier for a title would be also absolutely senseless, but at least that would be much much more competitive than Jones vs Sonnen.
At least Cormier is an awesome wrestler himself, and he also has a very strong punch. He will not be smaller than Jones either.

What threat can Sonnen present? He does not has KO power, he is a noob in the stand up compared to Jones, he is a good wrestler but even if he gets the takedown he will get sub'd.

Bullshit fight and I wont watch it unless the card is stacked, I have zero intrest in this fight. Although, it will be the first and most likely the last time I want Chael to win.

I just don't know how he is going to deal with the punishment of Jones when he can't take him down. Look how erratic he got when Silva stopped his takedowns...now factor in that Jones is a way better wrestler than Silva...Chael be totally fucked.

Cormier is a WAY better fighter than Chael. He is better than Chael at the only thing Chael is good at, wrestling. He is also a way better striker, is physically stronger, and is a WAY stronger fighter mentally. He took a huge knee right to the orbital at the end of one of his rounds vs Barnett and it barely phased him. Hell, he is also much quicker with his hands despite usually fighting 2 weight classes above him.

He's also coming off of a great string of wins, not a loss, and would be coming down in weight, not up in weight. We could really only expect him to do better there barring a bad weight cut, which probably wouldn't happen considering his background in wrestling, and we all know how adapted to weight cutting top wrestlers can be (Fitch, Kos). Chael has proved already that he is not a good fighter at 205.

The Silva/Bonnar fight illustrated how damaging that knee can be. The punches were the last of Sonnen's worries. I think he never recovered from that knee.
