I can understand Condit waiting somewhat for GSP because that is a big money making fight for him going against the number one PPV draw. Not a huge fan of him waiting but financially it makes sense.

However for Barao there is no real reason to wait Cruz isn't a draw and still relatively unknown as well as the rest of the division. They need this division to be alot more active then it currently is and promoted a bit more.

It was extremely random. I won't lie I went to ufc.com and looked at names (bad name memory smoked too much whacky tobaccy in my youth). Easton comes before McDonald alphabetically.

I'll put a doobie brother ahead of anyone. Rep to anyone who can tell me who stole the beat to I keep forget (were not in love anymore).

To those of you who are two young Michael McDonald is also the namesake of a doobie brother and a man who made my mom's generation get excited (that is as descriptive as I will go).

This is so fucking ridiculous hahaha

Like everyone else is saying, what is even the point of creating a title that will not be defended??

Is Nog the only fighter to ever defend the "interm title"?

I have to do the same thing when thinking about the full landscape with the lighter weight fighters. New to the UFC, a lot of the guys have bounced around weight classes, and I'm bad with names. It all comes down to me having the same problem

Also, am I alone in thinking they should have a smaller cage? Too much room, almost makes it feel like a different sport than some of the bigger guys sometimes.

I clicked on this thread for the same reason as others apperently.I hate to quote a world champion douche bag but even Dana says "a champion should always be willing to defend his title" . Like EVERYONE says here it makes NO sence to have an interim if they have no intentions of defending it! Since #1 contender apperently doesnt mean anything anymore why not the interim title as well? Since they dont seem to want to defend just pass them over? maybe then they would defend?

The point of having an interim champion is to defend the title and keep the top of the division from ending up in a stalemate while the real champion is unable to defend the belt. If the interim champion is unwilling to do this, maybe UFC should consider finding an interim champion that is
