| Nick Diaz will have to fight top contender before earning UFC title shot Nick Diaz will have to fight top contender before earning UFC title shot Quote:
according to UFC President Dana White, the Stockton brawler will likely have to battle his way back up the welterweight ranks before he sees another shot at the title.
"When Diaz gets off of suspension, he'll probably fight against one of the top guys at 170 pounds, and then we'll see what happens," White said on Wednesday's conference call.
An opportunity to test himself against St-Pierre was the reason Diaz re-signed with the UFC last year, and the match-up nearly came to fruition twice, before a series of missed media opportunities and St-Pierre's ACL injury derailed any plans.
Diaz went on to lose to Condit in a controversial interim title bout at UFC 143, effectively forfeiting yet another shot at St-Pierre, afterward testing positive for marijuana metabolites and earning his suspension. Yet, throughout all of this, White hasn't forgotten about the wishes of the fans.
"A lot of people still want to see that fight," the UFC President conceded.

Wow, it's a good thing Nick didn't do anything totally PED related, like literally trying to escape a building so he didn't have to take a piss test, and then utterly, profoundly, comprehesively, failing it.
I wonder what the penalty would be in a case like that.

I really hope Nick's opponent will be... Martin Kampmann!
I would rather see Nick fight Martin over any other WW in the world, including GSP. That fight to me just screams Fight of the Year to me.

Nick should not even fight anyone. If he wants a title shot he simply has to annoy the champ of any division (yes, any!! it can be HW, it can be LHW, MW) via twitter for few days.
The he should simply say to Dana how bad he wants to fight the champion. And that is all!!!

kampmann always comes to scrap and so does Diaz. Neither guy would be scared at all. Would be an epic war.

I think Diaz would love to get that one loss back
