Rampage Jackson: Chael Sonnen 'ruining' MMA, fighters like Glover Teixeira can save it

"Losing to a guy like Ryan Bader has lit a fire under my ass. I'm getting back in the gym and working on my new skills. My main focus is to destroy Glover Teixeira. It's the last fight on my contract, and I'm gonna destroy Glover, then I'm gonna put my deuces up. There's no love lost with the UFC. They're a great company. They're doing great things for the sport, but I just don't think they're doing great things for me."

Even though he wants to destroy him, "Rampage" has the utmost respect for Teixeira, saying that as much as he feels fighters like Sonnen are bad for the sport of MMA, fighters like Teixeira are good for the sport, and are even capable of saving the show he's spent much of his career helping to build:

"Glover's a tough guy. I like his fighting style. He's a jiu jitsu guy, but he throws it. I respect fighters like him. I think the UFC and MMA needs more fighters like him. Fighters like Chael Sonnen are just ruining the sport, taking people down and just humping on them. Fighters like Glover can save MMA. I don't understand why these guys are coming up with these elaborate game plans to win by decision. It's like boxing."

Agree with Rampage. Shit talking should not get you an undeserving title shot. I dont even enjoy that aspect of a fight at all, even to hype a fight. These guys would rather be drama queens than restore the honor that goes with a marital arts fight.


As far as Rampage is concerned, I think the most fitting fight for 2 fighters is Rampage and Forrest. That fight makes sense on so many levels. It would be Forrest's retirement fight and Rampage "outta the UFC" fight.

Rampage has always been bitter about that loss. A rematch would fuel him. Forrest would be fired up to prove his win wasnt a fluke. And let's be honest here...Rampage has no chance against Glover. Texieria is just way too fast, strong, motivated, and hungry and will be too much for Rampage.

He speaks the truth but its just the same in any other sport. More people now a days know Terrel Owens more than Jerry Rice for example. The people that act like retards and stand out from the rest are always going to get unfair treatment. I actually liked Chael when he first started talking trash because he spoke the truth, now it just seems like he watches reruns of WWF and copies that. saying hes the peoples champ and giving off cheesy lines of nonsense.

Btw, even an out of shape Rampage will destroy Glover. Page is one, if not the best boxer in all of MMA and Glover is going to stand and punch with him. Its going to be a nice highlight reel for Page and an instant end to the Glover hype train.

And let's be honest here...Rampage has no chance against Glover. Texieria is just way too fast, strong, motivated, and hungry and will be too much for Rampage.

I guess the thing that matters is: the ufc itself doesn't think that Chael is ruining mma, Dana doesn't think Chael is ruining mma, and probably not the millions tuning in to see him perform mma. So....it's just Rampage. Rampage only needs to get hungry again and go through a few people and earn his shot at the king, why grumble about it?

There's no doubt as to why Chael has earn his shot. He's beaten any and all he's fought lately, except superman himself, and then, in both fights, did as much or more damage than any fighter ever has in the ufc. The professionals at what they do have decided that he is the number 1 contender, end of story. Now we just get to wait and see if Chael can do what he did with superman, and who knows? even get lucky with his kryptonite.

Rubbing people the wrong way is his kryptonite, then he gets in there and doesn't let people think about it, that's why you will pay your hard earned money to see this man fight. He demands it and you will obey. You have no choice. You will adore him and no other the night he fights, your wives and girlfriends will feel cheated on.

No use denying it the day afterwards, as if you didn't sneek and pay to be his slave the night of the fight. You love it, and inwardly delight that they have put this man pitted against your mma god, and your groans of protestation are secretly that of pleasure and enthrallment. They all hear your squeals, but they know you, they have given you 100 to 1 odds, what more could you ask? The dragonslayer is here, you know of no other who has come so close, yet you complain. Let the dragonslayer have at it, the man is willing at all times, do as Saul did, let David have a go at the giant. And all you standers by, why not enjoy? but if not, thanks for the entertainment you add.

Jones chose not to fight Daniel Cormier because he wasn't famous enough. Cormier just won the heavyweight tourny, but apparently it just didn't make any financial sense to fight him.

Jones also expressed that he didn't want to fight Machida again. because they garnered low PPV numbers the first time.

Winning fights isn't enough. Fitch is living proof. You need to give people a reason to want to see you fight, and there are a variety of ways to do that.

You can't really fault Chael for doing what he does.

How is Rampage going to act like hes some ambassador for the sport when hes done numerous things to fuck his image and the image of the sport up. I dont have to list everything the guy has done, but if you sit back and think about ALL the stupid shit Rampage has said and done, hes no better the Chael when it comes to that topic.

Atleast Chael can get pass the borderline top tens at MW, probably at Lhw too, Rampage cant say that, Burn lol.
