fourth, finishing all three ranked fighters was what I was referring to with his soft ranking, because it had happened so far in the past.
And finally, you're missing my point by picking nits. I'm saying that Kongo is about as good as lesnar is today. It doesn't make Kongo a former champion, it means that lesnar's game fell off after he got sick and people realized his technical wrestling wasn't elite, and that he was allergic to getting punched in the face.
I'm not saying lesnar was never a top 10 fighter. I'm saying he clearly was well past his sell-by when AO beat him.
rh | That's why I said if he lost to Condit, but I disagree with your assessment. Kongo just got Ko'd by Hunt who isn't anywhere near being ranked. Lesnar lost his title fight then to a top 5 AO. I think Lesnar today would demolish Kongo, see Cain fight but with more vicious GnP.
Plus one thing I would like to add, is that Lesnar landed a few decent shots on AO, even opened up a cut. I think Lesnar just wasn't ready mentally to fight.

What was the point in using them?

Still believe Hunt vs Reem would be epic. Hunt's on a roll. Probably not getting subbed so easily.
I still wouldn't mind seeing a Werdum vs Reem rematch. With less butt scooting of course.
Barnett or Cormier ftw as well.
Lots of good matches for the allistair. | All decent ideas. My pick would be bigfoot . I think that would be a competitive fight.

if jds beats cain again and is ready to defend the title shortly after, give reem the shot. if cain reclaims the strap, i rather see overeem face the winner of carwin/nelson and if he wins that, give him the shot. there are just too many heavyweights who put in work this year who i would feel sorry for if reem just stepped right back to the plate after all the controversy. with that said, a fight with jds and reem would be such a block buster for the memorial day show in may.

I don't have AO as a top 5 fighter. I certainly didn't before he beat a cashed-out lesnar. He's top 10, sure, but I didn't have him top 5 based on being afraid to engage with Werdum on the ground and getting outstruck on the feet.
I made the point because people give AO tremendous credit based on beating lesnar. I don't think it's that big of an accomplishment, but it remains the only top 10 ranked fighter he's actually dominated in his entire career.
I made the comparison of Kongo to lesnar because--circa 2011, before their respective losses to Hunt and AO--I had them both ranked pretty close, in the 15-20 range.
It's OK if you don't agree with me, I don't care.
But at least understand what I'm talking about before replying.

The one thing I noticed is that the fight seemed to just fly out of Lesnar as soon as Overeem landed his first solid body shot. I think ultimately, it was very stupid of brock to return after suffering the illness and surgery that he did, and 'reem showed us why.

rh | So after losing to Cain then getting choked out by mir, kongo fought to a draw with Travis brown then with one victory over Paul buentello you had him ranked the same as lesnar? Who lost his belt and was out do to his illness. Doesn't make sense to me.

It doesn't have to make sense to you. I've explained why I felt lesnar had dropped: he was coming off a loss, he'd looked like shit in his last win, and he hadn't fought in over a year.
You explained why he should have been ranked: he'd beaten some ranked guys almost 2 years before. You don't agree with me, I don't agree with you. It's the magic of the internet...it doesn't matter.
More to the point, I think Kongo would have had an excellent chance to beat him, back in 2011. I think Kongo would win 8 out of 10 against him in 2012.
And I'm not saying that as a Kongo fan, because I don't think he's very good. I'm saying lesnar didn't have top 10 skills in 2011. Once diverticulitis sucked away the power that augmented his skillset, he was just another fighter with a soft ranking who matches up poorly with a big striker with anything better than mediocre TD defense.
