| Aldo vs. Edgar title fight rumored for January event in Brazil Aldo vs. Edgar title fight rumored for January event in Brazil
[ Quote:
According to a Brazilian report, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will meet in January at UFC 156.
The two were expected to collide earlier this month, but an injury knocked Aldo out of the bout. "Scarface" has not fought since January, defeating Chad Mendes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

UFC expected to return to Brazil on Jan. 19 for UFC 156; city still to be determined Quote:
Not yet two weeks removed from its most recent trip to Brazil, the UFC already has a return date picked out.
Sources close to the promotion on Wednesday told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the promotion is targeting Jan. 19 for a pay-per-view event expected to be UFC 156. An exact city, however, is not yet known.
The event will be the UFC's fifth in the South American country in the past year and a half.
Earlier this month, UFC 153 took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro with a main event featuring Brazilian MMA favorite Anderson Silva, the UFC's middleweight champion. Silva moved up to light heavyweight for a fight against Stephan Bonnar, which he won by first-round TKO to improve his UFC record to 16-0.

Loses a title fight in another weight class and gets immediate title shot in a weight class he has 0 wins in. I guess we're just going to let this one slide because Edgar is a nice guy. Ok.

Either can win, but I think Aldo will pull it out.

Breaking News: Edgar won his last fight. I see this as champion vs champion.
And he's moving DOWN a weight class, unlike Señor Chael.
In a perfect world, yes, he would have to fight at least once at 145 lbs. But you think the featherweight division has a better challenger that Frankie is passing over because of trash talk?

Frankie Edgar won his last fight 49-46. It was one of the worst robberies that I have ever seen. He is the rightful lightweight champion. I know it, he knows it, Ben Henderson knows it, Dana knows it, and Aldo knows it. This is the best LW in the world taking on the best FW in the world. This is going to be a close fight to call but one thing is for sure, it's going to be one hell of a fight.

And why does moving down make it any different then moving up? I do agree with you Edgar won the fight... But we can't just ignore the official records for match making in some instances, but not in others... Thus Frankie is fighing his third title shot in a row... And he lost the first two... And actually lost the first one.
That said, I think it will be a great fight... I'm looking forward to it, and no I can't think of a more deserving feather weight of the top of my head. Hahaha

Gotta agree that Frankie won the rematch vs Bendo. This fight is going to be pretty sick and I really hope the Aldo hype train gets derailed.

I think Edgar won too. I'm a huge mark for Bendo. I still have it to Edgar. But what myself and the rest of the community this is a moot point. The judges gave it to Bendo. That's it. I think all of this freebie title shot crap is all Jon jones' fault.
Fuckin Jon jones......
Edit: on topic, aldo tkos Edgar by the third. It'll be a hell of a fight though.
