Santos believes that she has been used as a stepping stone, and made into a bad character to propel Rousey as the new face of women's mixed martial arts.
The fall of the undefeated Santos began after her devastating 16-second knockout victory over Japanese superstar Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal.
Though her victory was impressive, days following the event the California Athletic Commision revealed that Santos' urine test came back positive for performance enhancer stanozolol, which is an anabolic steroid considered a safer choice for female bodybuilders.
Following the results of the test, Santos was suspended for 12-months, and fined $2,500. In addition, Strikeforce immediately stripped her of her title and her featherweight division was completely eliminated from the company.
Santos herself, however, has remained in the roster.

Santos made herself infamous by juicing.

She is right to a certain point.
But Ronda mainly gained fame because of her annoying behaviour and obviously because of her armbars.
I am sure that Ronda would be famous even if Cyborg did not even existed.

your right Cyroid she didnt gain her fame by being 6-0 as a pro (9-0 overall) with 9 armbar wins, 8 of which came under a minute into each fight, or being a bronze medalist in judo at the olympics, or being strikeforce champ, or being a smoke show.

But there was always a lot of negative perception of her as a result. Juicing just made that worse.
Rousey has the same combination of talent and sex appeal that Carano had to break into perception of the male demographic.
