I wonder who'll actually get a fight first, Sherk or Arona?

Nothing wrong with someone from one country wanting to see more champions from his own country; but mma is a worldwide sport. I very much wish that Trump's WAMMA thing had been successful. It's a really great idea having a MMA organization that welcomes people from all over the world that can come and go as the choose without signing their life over UFC-style.

I was expecting to read (and respond to) some ethnocentric, possibly racist remarks, but the quotes aren't nearly as bad as where the title was leading me. Definitely not an American sport though, is it?

Plus, I do not remember any brazilian ever saying something like "MMA is a Brazilian sport". Even though they have had ValeTudo for some decades now.

Mixed Martial Arts. The whole idea behind the sport originally was to see how masters of one style fared against another. Now it's all about learning styles from different countries and blending them together. The diversity of nationality and fighting styles are what led me to the sport in the first place. I also would like to comment that, as an American, of course I want to see Americans do well but I'm not worried about how many belts we have. I just want to see the best fighter with the belt.

And, while I disagree with Sherk's comments, I thought they were actually very tame. I think the real problem is the title of the article and all the emotion it conjures when you read it.
