| WWE Website Interviews UFC Star Chael Sonnen, Talks Most Dangerous Submission Move In WWE Website Interviews UFC Star Chael Sonnen, Talks Most Dangerous Submission Move In WWE | PWMania Quote:
WWE’s website recently interviewed UFC star Chael Sonnen about the most dangerous submission move in WWE, to promote Sunday’s Hell In a Cell pay-per-view where Randy Orton will face Alberto Del Rio. Sonnen named Del Rio’s cross armbreaker as the most dangerous.
Sonnen, who is a friend of CM Punk, also talked about submissions in WWE:
“Punk is a submission whiz who trains with former UFC fighter, Shonie Carter in Chicago. Punk even has a gym in his basement now. He likes the Anaconda Vise. The Undertaker uses the gogoplata [known to WWE fans as Hell’s Gate]. The Figure-Four Leglock will crush a knee, but it is very intricate and difficult to set up. The standing Abdominal Stretch is applied on the ground in MMA and called a Twister. Again, it’s very difficult to set up, but brutal to be in. Alberto’s Cross Armbreaker is known as an armbar in MMA and it is a staple of every fighter’s repertoire.”
| Seems to me like Chael could be trying to win over some rastlin' fans. Maybe trying to get some of them to watch some real fighting? Smart.

Well WWE is where he got all of his lines from. At this point I would bet a lot that at some point Chael will be in the WWE.

Looks like someone has a big money job lined up in a couple years. I was hoping to see him mention the TRIANGLE JOKE as the most dangerous submission, considering his experiences...

Crazy that wwe would actually interview him, unless there are talks.

I've got to agree with you guys, it does seem like quite an unusual choice of MMA fighter for WWE to interview unless they were either interested in him, or it could just be because Sonnen has said before what a big fan of wrestling he is.
I'm going to come out now and say that I think Sonnen will fight Jones, lose in fairly dramatic fashion (probably a sub) then, having exhausted every title shot the UFC could give him, will make a gradual move across to rassssstlin'... and good on him, go make some money Sonnen!

Naah I read somewhere Chael wanted to have CM Punk walk in the octagon with him at his Mark Munoz fight, but WWE didn't want any of that. Chael is real tight with those guys, probably why he acts the way he does when it comes to selling fights. http://mma.sbnation.com/2012/1/5/268...wrestling-news

Chael trained with Steve Austin for one of his last fights. He's pretty good friends with a few wrestlers. I think this could be WWE's way of trying to appeal to MMA fans. Quite honestly I think it might backfire. It'll have some of the rasslin fans thinking "oh, they use the hells gate in UFC?" And maybe they'll gradually start watching less WWE and more UFC. I know I did.

I wouldnt read too much into this. On the plus side, I can now watch WWE, observe the 'taker locking in a hells gate, and find out what a gogoplata actually looks like, considering Joe Rogan seems to call everything a gogoplata.
