| UFC 156 odds: Rashad Evans opens as big favorite over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira UFC 156 odds: Rashad Evans opens as big favorite over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Quote:
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion will return to the Octagon on Feb. 2, 2013, at UFC 156 in a 205-pound scrap against longtime veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And he's opened as a big favorite at -345, according to MMAOddsbreakers.
"Lil' Nog," who put Tito Ortiz back on the road to retirement at UFC 140 in Toronto, has struggled mightily against the wrestlers in his division, sharing losses to Ryan Bader at UFC 119 and Phil Davis at UFC Fight Night 24. And his split decision win against Jason Brilz, another wrestler, was about as close as they come.
That's probably why he's a heavy underdog at +265 for the Super Bowl weekend. That and the fact that he will have gone over a full year in between bouts.

Well DUH!!!
Speed, counter striker, great wrestler.
I honestly don't see how Lil' Nog stands a chance.
Granted it is MMA and anything can happen but................

Well at least Nog is a southpaw which can throw some people off. I don't think Rashad has fought many southpaws has he? And he doesn't have a very long reach so he will have to put himself in position to be hit also, at least, when he wants to throw his hands.
I wanna see a stand up fight for this fight. I'll be pissed if Rashad takes him down at will every round and wins 30-27.

He's been pretty much just lingering around in the division almost as a stepping stone for new prospects (Davis, Bader, and I think he was even supposed to fight Goose but got injured).
People like to say he's overhyped but I don't think so. Imho he got robbed in the Davis and Bader fights, but I think he lost against Brilz. He's shown very improved tdd as well and has some nice sweeps from the bottom. I think lil nog will do a lot better than we expect him to, even if he doesn't pull off the upset.

It's called being intrigued. Intrigued by what would be a very interesting display of stand up on the feet...which happens to be alot more interesting than what would likely happen if Rashad were able to take Nog down. Nog would probably just neutralize him for the most part and it would be a stale mate. Quote:

Not a fight that makes a lot of sense at the moment. Nog has been sitting for so long and wasn't looking that great in his fights prior. He should be getting someone a little more middle of the rankings like say Vera.
I'd much rather see Rashad against one of the top guys or looking at a fight that brings him down to MW. They should have matched him and Sonnen up in my opinion.
