3 five second highlight out of a 25 minute fight, he sure put on a striking clinic...
Condit put on one of the best performances of any fighter in recent MMA history. How he fought Diaz was brilliant and he beat him at his own game. If you want dumb shit borderline retarded MMA with zero skill then go back and watch Bonner vs Forrest 1. You have no clue about this sport if your saying all Condit did was run for 5 rounds.
Since you have shit eyesight, probably a biased nuthugger, and poor memory, Condit was pushing forward and getting off first the majority of rounds 4 and 5 after he picked Diaz apart for the first 3. That is 40% or 10 minutes where he was not "running" as you put it but I bet you love how Machida fights!

Rewatching the fight as a type this ill give you are round by round breakdown of how it plays out;
Round 1. Condit throws a few leg kicks early that land, Diaz pushing forward. Both trading punches (some landing some not) with diaz controlling the center of the octagon. Diaz pushes forward landing some body shorts / shots to the head pushing Condit towards the cage condit counters with a strike and circles the cage. Condit attemps a few spining back fists, the first one misses, the second one is blocked, Diaz still controlling the center of the octagon. Late in the round Diaz moving forward throwing a few punches and clinches with condit against the cage and land 4 or 5 unanswered shots to the body before condit breaks away and circles around the octagon. Round ends with Diaz pushing forward once again and hitting condit with a few shots (not with a lot of power)
Round score imo; Diaz 10 Condit 9. Diaz lands more punches than condit, but condit lands more kicks. Diaz wins round because of agression and octagon control.
*Note in between round Nate says to nick "Hes trying to get you to chase him so he can land that big shot" / Condit cut under his right eye *
Round 2:
Both meet in the middle of the octagon, Condit throws a head kick that is blocked, then circles out. Diaz pushes forward, Condit fakes a leg kick and switches it to a high kick - blocked by diaz, Condit cirlces away. Diaz pushes forawrd and Condit attemps a flying knee - blocked by diaz and then follows up with a spinning back fist which also misses. Diaz pushes forward and lands a punch and clinches against the cage but condit breaks quickly and circles away. *NOTE at this point joe rogan says "I got to tell you, carlos looks a bit hesitant with these attacks, like that jumping knee and all these different techniques hes doing, it looks like hes a bit hesitant of the response of Nick Diaz" * Carlos throw a spinning back fist that catches diaz, he walks right through it though and clinches with condit landing a few strikes to the body before breaking away. Condit throws a kick, its caught by diaz who counters with a palm slap to condit followed by a left and a right. Condit continues to circle away from Diaz, diaz continues to cut off the octagon and walk condit up against the cage. Diaz lands a nice body head combination, condit circles away. Diaz pushes forward with a combination that puts carlos on the cage, he counters with a front kick that misses but answers that up with a side kick that lands to the body, condit circles away. Condit lands a very nice body shot on diaz but diaz shrugs it off with a taunt (still a very good shot nonetheless). Diaz pushes forward again and puts condit on the fence and unleashes 7-8 body punches with what looks to be 5-6 of them landing, condit breaks away and circles out. Round ends pretty quietly with both throwing a few shots that land but nothing special.
Round score imo: Diaz 10 Condit 9; Diaz controlled the center of the octagon, had condit pushed up against the cage multiple times and landed what seemed to be the more significant strikes in the round.
*NOTE Greg Jackson says to condit in between rounds "Carlos all you have to do is keep moving" *
Round 3
Condit again comes out with a head kick much like he did in round 2 and it misses again. Carlos lands a nice leg kick, diaz pushes forward and lands a shot to the head and body but takes a shot to the body from condit as well. Condit throws a head kick that clips diaz, he continues to push forward. *NOTE Goldy says "Nick does a great job cutting off the octagon there" * and diaz presses forward with punches that back condit agianst the cage (none of the shots seemed to have landed the well), condit circles away. * NOTE Rogan says "Mazzagatti really needs to be moving around to avoid these guys" * Condit lands a nice front kick to the body. Diaz pushes forward with a nice shot to the body and pins condit to the cage again where he lands a body body head combination (all 3 land) and then throws 2 more punches to the head one misses condit counters but misses, hes still backed up on the cage, diaz lands another body shot before condit circles away. Both continue to exchange but nothing really significant landing. Condit landing a few good leg kicks and a body kick. Condit fakes a flying knee and lands a nice punch. Condit throws another leg kick that lands but eats a pretty big counter from diaz which is followed up by another big shot by diaz, condit circles away. Condit throws another flying knee late in the round the clips diaz but he walks right through it. Round ends with condit throwing a leg kick and slipping, diaz walks forward and hits condit with a leg kick while he is on the ground.
Round score imo: Diaz 9Condit 10; Diaz still controlling the pace and being the more aggressive fighter, although condit started to be a little more agressive as the 3rd round went on. Diaz lands more shots to the body and head, but condit lands more flashy strikes (the back fist / flying knee / one head kick) and does the more damage
*NOTE inbetween rounds, Diaz now has small cut under eye.
Round 4
Diaz comes out and takes the center of the octagon, condit lands a leg kick and trys to land a second but its checked. Diaz throws a body shot that kind of hits condit but at the same time could have been blocked hard to tell. and diaz then lands a leg kick of his own. Condit lands a nice left hook. Diaz pushes forward with a body right left combination and pushes condit to the cage but he circles away. Front kick catches diaz. Diaz pushes forward and clinches with condit against the cage and attemps a single but cant get it, condit breaks away throw two punches but both are blocked, condit circles away. Nice body shot / leg kick landed by condit. Condit lands a body shot and leg kick and then follows that up with a head kick that lands on diaz. Round ends with diaz throwing a left and right high kick back to back with both missing, condit circles away.
Round 4 score imo: Diaz 9 Condit 10; Diaz holding the center of the octagon, but Condit without question lands more significant strikes this round and really started to find a good rhythm.
*NOTE diaz's boxing coach says inbetween rounds "You know he got that last round and thats it, you have the rest" *
Round 5
Both start out kinda slow, throwing a few punches but not much landing. Diaz thowing a lot more kicks this round. Round continues with not much action, both landing a few strikes (punches and kicks) here and there. Condit lands a nice leg kick that looks to buckle diaz a bit. Good right hand by condit followed up by a head kick. Condit throws a punch, diaz dodges it and clinches with condit against the cage but condit breaks away without any damage. Diaz pushes forward and lands a punch, condit pushed up against the page. Both guys throw and both are landing, condit lands a knee to the face and circles away. Diaz pushes forward, condit counters with a punch but diaz slips behind condit and gets his back while both are standing and takes condit down and right away gets both hooks in. Diaz looking for a choke or an arm, then locks in the body triangle. Round coming to a close, diaz switches for an arm bar but condit gets out and ends up on top round ends.
Round score imo: Diaz 10 Condit 9; I had condit winning the round but once diaz took condit down i personally think that sealed the round for him. It was the most dominate position of the fight and the takedown scores points as well. Very close round that could go either way depending on how you score the takedown / back mount.
Final score imo; Diaz 48 Condit 47
Actual judges scores for the fight; 48-47, 49-46, 49-46
Now your next question may be who the hell am i and what makes me right? so i bring in joe rogan (who during the fight thought condit won but after sitting down and watching it again his opinion had changed.)
Joe, like me gave diaz rounds 1,2 and 5 after rewatching the fight again at home.

1. You think Carlos just ran away the whole time.
2. You think Diaz should have gotten a close decision. (Many agree with you, btw)
These two statements are not equivalent. Just admit it and move on. None of us actually care that much, man.
What's the point of debate if you won't see the other side?
EDIT: I know my first comment about you going back to watching hockey was douchey, sorry. I hope that's not what's making you overly defensive here.

I dont think carlos ran away the whole time, but he did "circle away" a lot which leads to the "running away" comment i made. Was it part of his strategy of course and he did well with it, but imo that doesnt win you the fight. When he came forward and put combinations together like he did in rounds 3,4,5 is when he actually looked like his normal self and arguably won all 3 of those rounds (depending on how you score the take down in the 5th). Like i said IMO diaz won the decision, did condit run away the whole fight, no. but he did do a lot more circling then normally seen in a fight.
And dont worry about the NHL comment man it dont take it to heart, NHL is my number one sport to watch and follow with MMA in a close second followed up by the NFL... i think the love for hockey comes with being Canadian lol.

Not gonna quote the whole post (too long) but nice breakdown BonesKnows.
I note that at no point in your breakdown do you state "Condit is running away." Have you rethought that position? That was after all what you implied he did in that fight by referring to him as The Natural Born Runner.
EDIT: ignore above, you addressed that in you post to AnchorPunch (we must have been posting at the same time, lol.
Your breakdown - with the exception of Round 5 - is how I saw the fight. I do disagree with the degree in which Diaz controlled the Octagon. I feel that Condit's ability to lead Diaz from one side of the Octagon to another, avoiding the clinch and inevitable body flurries via excellent defensive footwork (parts of Rounds 1&2 excepted) against the fence was evidence of Condit controlling where the fight took place.
Happy to disagree with you on that point, as I acknowledge that interpreting it as Diaz walking down Condit is a valid interpretation.
My question to you is, after re-watching the fight can you read your own breakdown of it and still refer to how Condit approached the fight as Running Away? Can you accept that there was a large degree of skill in how he executed his gameplan, against an opponent who is arguably the superior stand up fighter?
EDIT: Again, ignore, you addressed that already.

Rule 1: REMEMBER that you cannot reason someone out of an argument they did not reason themselves into in the first place. Rule 2: Albert Einstein once wrote a foreword endorsing a book rubbishing the theory of plate tectonics. History proved him wrong. Moral of the story? REMEMBER: We all say stupid stuff sometimes! Rule 3: NEVER attempt to mediate in a flame-war between GSP and BJ Penn nuthuggers debating GSP/Penn II. It won't end well.

Reason: Missed a post, questions are redundant
I am not going to debate round by round what happened. The only noteworthy debate was whether Diaz getting full mount and doing nothing with it won him the 5th round or not. Too close for me to make a case either way. FWIW I wanted Diaz to win this fight because I wanted to see him vs GSP.
Condit won me over with this fight. He fought a semi-Machida style fight and WON against a great boxer who was a decent size favorite and a also noteworthy is Diaz was a HUGE favorite in the stand up. Condit had less than a year to practice for this fight. Do you think its easy for a fighter to just change his style like that? He was brilliant, fought a perfect fight and beat Diaz at his own game. Brilliant. Narrowing down to what Condit did as "running" is a fucking insult to the sport.
