I've said it before and I'll say it again: Bisping's notoriety and close loss to Sonnen is (to Dana st least) the equivalent of a top ten win. Unlike a real top ten win, it doesn't have the disadvantage of being time locked to a specific date in history. It's a card that can be played whenever it's convenient.
Belfort has massive name recognition and as a former UFC title holder he can be declared (straight facedly too, by Dana) as being top 5 or even top 3 at middleweight. Again, unlike an actual objective ranking, this can be spouted as gospel whenever it is convenient.
So here's how the logic goes: Bisping has two top ten wins (the real one over Stann and the other one) and Belfort can have the spin-ranking of being 5, 4 or 3 in the division. If Bisping beats Belfort (I think he will) he will be most likely declared the number one contender.
The announcement goes something like this:
Dana: "Look, Michael Bisping is the most underrated fucking fighter in the UFC today. He's got great striking, insane cardio and his takedown defense has improved off the fucking chain. This is a guy who fought Chael Sonnen on 8 days notice and nearly beat the fucking guy. We all know what an animal Sonnen is, and Bisping beat him everywhere except the judges scorecards.
"Bisping beat Brian Stann, and uh, you know, Stann's a tough guy, a dangerous guy. He put some big shots on Bisping in that first round but Mike a
came back and beat him. Then he beat Belfort, an all time great and right at the top of the division, top five in the division, top three. Belfort nearly ripped Jon Jones' fucking arm off, and Bisping decisioned him. That's a hell of a resume right there.
"Bisping will be fighting Anderson Silva in Manchester, England in May 2013. You know, the English fans are some of the best in the world, the UFC loves going there, the fighters love going there. It's gonna be insane."
I probably put a little less cussing in there, but that's the gist of it.

I suppose I'll agree with Bisping about number 1 contender if he disposes of Vitor impressively. If he beats Vitor in a decision like similar to what he did with Stann then I say winner of Boetch and Weidman is number 1 contender.

Not if Weidman wins....
If Boetch somehow pulls out another not very impressive win, than yes... I would have no problem with Bisping getting the nod over him.
Still I do agree with Bisping when he said that Vitor was more dangerous than both Weidman and Boetch... Especially for Mike's style.
Chris is more deserving of a shot, but I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Bisping win that fight, should they go head to head. He is the better fighter in my mind.

A wise man once said "it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt." He's just gotta stop talking for a while.

The other thing as people from all over Europe would go to see that fight. European UFC fans are used to clocking up a lot of flying miles. So while it wouldn't be the biggest draw ppv wise, they could make a KILLING at the gate and have it at a massive venue.
Dana knows this, which is why he wants it to happen. C.R.E.A.M.

I dont see Bisbing getting past Belfort it's weird that im in the minority?
But if he were 2 and Weidman beats Boetsch I almost think Bisbing/Weidman is a must.
With all the shit Mike talk's about the guy and where he is in the division Weidman should have the right to talk back but with his fists.

I really believe that people like Bill Murray or John Belushi are just as great and just as valid as Robert De Niro or Al Pacino. And I don't think you can say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) is a better movie than Animal House (1978); they're different genres. I think they're both examples of great craftsmanship.

And while talking about Vitor/Franklin we must not forget Akiyama I actually felt really bad for that man at the end of that fight.
Having to take punches from Vitor knowing you aint got a chance in hell has gotta suck, But taking numerous shots to the back of the head while already lying on your face thats just brutal.
