I think if you do an interim belt, it should be a fight between the winners of Bisping-Belfort and Wiedmann-Boestch. There's no need to name one so fast, but nice try Bisping.

Boetch was getting his tail kicked against Okami and then came out and landed a few good shots to a guy who always crumples against pressure, then according to the judges beat Lombard when all he did was pitty pat the whole fight and just won on the basis that he may have landed more shots than Lombard who threw like 10 punches the whole fight. It was the most boring fight I have seen in a loooong time.

My point is that while Weidman may very well be the #1 contender and the next best guy, to me that is a big maybe as he has not fought anyone outside of Munoz although he did look great that fight, but Boetch won't beat Weidman, and couldn't beat Vitor, Bisping, or hell even Munoz IMO. Hell, I dont think he could beat Ace outside of having a punchers chance.

Vitor would wipe the floor with Weidman. I wouldn't see that fight leaving the 1st round.

I doubt it. Belfort the Myth will not be able to defend Weidman's takedowns. Weidman is not stupid enough to engage in a brawl with a brawler. Nor do I think that Belfort's JJ is enough to sweep Weidman.

I am not saying that I think Bisping has really done any more than Boetch. I just happen to think Bisping is a better fighter than Boetch.

So? You have to earn your spot in rankings. You earn that spot by beating better opponents than another fighter. Bisping has not beaten better fighters than Tim Boetsch has.

Boetsch tallied his second with his victory over Okami.

Fighters prove their worth from the opponents they overcome. Heart can win over skillset any given night on any given card.

Yeah I'm not so sure that Vitor wipes the floor with Weidman either. IMO the 2 best fighters not named Anderson Silva in the MW division are Vitor and Weidman. Weidman has a good style to match up against Vitor and AS for that matter. I would kinda like to see AS vs. Vitor again just b/c I had the feeling that Vitor was the only fighter in that division that had a chance to knock AS out. Then AS lands that kick and the fight was over b4 it started. I dont think that would happen again and thats why I would like to see them fight again. On the other hand, he had his shot so why not make him win not only the Bisping fight but another while Weidman gets his chance. That is if AS defends his belt b4 the end of the decade.

Are you saying that Lombard was his 2nd top 10 win b/c he fought Okami then Lombard. The best fighter he beat before Okami was Kendall Grove. I agree that sometimes heart and determination can win fights that you usually wouldnt win. When you want something more and take chances sometimes it pays off.

The point I was trying to make is that b/c he beat Okami and Split Dec'd Lombard who clearing wasnt his normal self, all of a sudden everyone thinks he can beat Vitor and Bisping and everyone else for that matter. We will see when he gets schooled by Weidman. Maybe then he fights the loser of Bisping and Vitor and gets schooled again.
