Following Wednesday's loss of headliner and head coach Shane Carwin (12-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) due to a knee injury, "TUF 10" vet Matt Mitrione (5-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has stepped in as his replacement.

He now meets Roy Nelson (17-7 MMA, 4-3 UFC) next month in the headliner of The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.

Officials today announced verbal agreements are in place for the fight. Mitrione was slated to fight Philip De Fries (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at the year-end UFC 155 event. However, according to officials, De Fries will get a new opponent.

The TUF 16 Finale takes place Dec. 15 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on FX. FUEL TV and Facebook carry the prelims.

Not really excited about this fight. Mitrione isnt experienced enough or good enough to take on Roy right now. My guess is that Roy will just take down Mitrione and sub him in the first round.

This is a bad replacement.. I dont really have any interest for this fight.

Mitrione has good skills in the stand up, but in the ground game he is very weak and Nelson has a pretty good BJJ. So I thing that Nelson will sub him in the 1st or 2nd round.

glad meathead decided to show some balls, this is the biggest and possibly final opportunity he has to make a name for himself i'll still be rooting for the burger king though

i actually dont mind this match up, but i think it'll disappoint a lot of people as its not the big marquee match up that most people want for a tuf finale.

This fight does not interest me. I do not like either fighter. I was going to be pulling for Carwinstrol to win but now I have nothing but apathy for this match-up.

Shitty replacement, a really low ranked fighter which probably is indicative of how far down ZUFFA had to go on their phonelist before finding a fill-in.

This fight means NOTHING.
