And in the middle, you have people who just want to see him act like a champion, who understand he'd probably beat Weidman regardless, and are saddened by his loss of integrity.
A great fighter with no heart would have crumbled in that first fight against Sonnen. A fighter with no heart probably wouldn't have even taken the fight to begin with.
The true heart of a fighter is showcased and tested by overcoming adversity. No objective fan will say Silva didn't show heart in that fight. Contrary to popular belief having an opinion on whom you would like to fight next has no bearing on having the heart of a champion.
It sure is funny how quick people catch a case of amnesia.

What you're referring to as "heart" looked a whole lot like desperation to me.

Would love to see Bisping take on Boestch on short notice. If he won that he would have a legit claim to a title fight (or maybe not I have been on a rollercoaster and am not sure if what I am saying is legit).
Weidman has a torn labrum in the shoulder, so depending on the degree and whether or not it requires surgery/rehab, I don't know if they'd have an ETA yet, but I'd say Feb at the MOST earliest...

Yes the 9-0 weidman whos only big win is against a out of shape mark munoz is the most accomplished contender at MW.......I was (and still am implying) that weidman doesnt deserve a title shot.

Was he desperate when he took the fight with a proven injury? Was he hard up for money? Did he have to fight against doctors orders?
He could have quit after the 1st round instead of taking 5 rounds of punishment to come back and seal the deal. The media said he showed heart, other fighters as well as posters here (even his haters) admitted the same.
Thats a trait that you either have or you don't. It doesn't come and go like a yeast infection.

Anderson did show the heart and will of a champion in that fight. Silva was pushed by Sonnen further than anyone had in a long time. A lesser man would have quit.

If fighters followed doctors orders we'd probably see the vast majority of fights canceled.

Was Silva really ever that punished in the fight to actually quit? It's not like Sonnen is known for devastating ground and pound. From what I recall Sonnen really just dominated the fight from a technical and control point of view the damage was pretty minimal certainly not in the realm of where someone would be possibly expected to quit. I'd say Silva knew from pretty early on that the sub openings were there as well so the possibility of winning wasn't out of the question.
Not that I'm questioning Silva's heart but that match wasn't a really a full test of someone's will to continue fight.
