Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship®, released a statement today regarding UFC® light heavyweight Thiago Silva:
“Thiago Silva tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout at UFC on FUEL TV in Macau. The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents. Silva has admitted to taking the banned substance and has agreed to participate in an approved drug-rehabilitation program and serve a six-month suspension retroactive to the November 10 event. He must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearance to fight again.”
| I remember Thiago requesting to fight more frequently after his victory over Nedkov. Sixth-month suspension won't help him stay active.

Wow, I wouldnt be surprised is Zuffa cut him.
Really though how long can this guy go on fighting/getting caught/huge suspension/fighting/get caught etc etc.
Hes 1-3-2 in his last 6 fights and thats been nearly 4 YEARS long! Two drug suspensions in his last three fights, fuck it I say cut him.

Marijuana is not a performance enhancing drug.
So I'm not sure why the UFC (or any athletic commission) even tests for it?
Because honestly... this shit is just frickin' boring.
I mean... who really cares if a dude smokes weed?!?!
That's up to him... and I couldn't frickin' care less.
Seriously man... enough with all the weed stories!
WHO CARES!
If a fighter wants to smoke weed, do heroin or snort coke... I couldn't care less.
It's not helping them at all.
Advise the appropriate authorities... and let them mete out whatever penalty is dictated under the law.
But all this crap about fighters smoking weed being CHEATERS?!
Seriously?!
One guy on here even called him "a bum".
That's just ridiculous.
The guy likes to smoke weed.... BIG WHOOP!
