And kind of like GSP doesn't belong in the cage with Silva. You must have forgot to add that part in. It's ok I'll do it for you.
Of course Silva would want to fight the smaller guy and then maybe possibly
fight the bigger guy. Honestly he's moved up to 205 twice now and also has victories over Chael and Vitor both whom did and will challenge for the LHW. He wouldn't need it but another victory over somebody like Rampage or Shogun would solidify him as the #1 contender at that weight, superfight or no superfight. That would be his biggest payday and the biggest boost to his legacy.
As for the OP:
For once I agree with Bisping 100%, the guy is dead on with his perception of this whole situation.
I wonder what Silva's blackhouse buddies think about him challenging for the lhw title (especially Machida).

Win 18–3 Ryan Bader KO (punch) UFC on Fox: Shogun vs. Vera August 4, 2012 2 1:32 California, United States
Loss 17–3 Jon Jones Technical Submission (standing guillotine choke) UFC 140 December 10, 2011 2 4:26 Ontario, Canada For the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, Fight of the Night
Doesn't look like Machida is near a title shot as of right now.
Funny how much a flash KO boosts your public perception.
Silva is free to do whatever he wants. Challenge for the belt then RELINQUISH it if you win. It would help Machida in the long run.

silva has a belt. he should defend that one, and stop ducking his own division.

This sums up all the counters to your viewpoint in one easy-to-follow-but-difficult-to-believe pile of poo:
It's not ducking, because Anderson is not afraid of anyone.
Anderson shouldn't have to defend against anyone if it won't make him zillions, but he should get to keep his belt, because he won it.
Actually expecting him to defend is, like, totally making him a gladiator or or something. He has ambitions, and the belt should be held hostage while he makes crappy movies or changes his mind or something. Because he's a human being, not a slave.
Anderson doesn't have the heart of an accountant, because he once fought with tender ribs.
Anderson has earned the right to do whatever he wants, and anyone who doesn't agree with that is hating.
Whatever Anderson says is true, even if he goes back and contradicts it 5 minutes later.
Whatever dana says is true, as long as he's not calling Weidman the #1 contender, or saying mean things about Anderson.
Anderson shouldn't be viewed differently from Georges simply because he's the one initiating the superfight: If any haters are hating because Anderson doesn't want to fight Jones, they should hate on Georges, even though he just wants to do his job and fight WWs.
Anyone saying Anderson should have to fight Jones is a jerk because size totally matters, except when Georges should have to fight Anderson--then it doesn't matter. Obviously.
The superfights will totally have an impact on p4p, because when two equally skilled guys fight and the bigger one [surprisingly!] wins, it totally makes him better p4p.

Anderson only has two fights left. GSP then Jones thereafter relinquishing the title upon winning it would be a best case scenario for Anderson Silva. That's all I'm saying.
I wonder exactly how the champ contract is worded. It automaticly extends, but if he gives it up does it still hold him from certain things? Could this just be Soares & Silva trying to get a contract they want.

For those who are curious most if not all all of these responses are based off of some variant of my replies regarding Silva.
Here comes that effective e-damage.

In all sincerity, I wasn't thinking of you or anyone else specifically.
I just thought of the dumbest shit anyone could possibly come up with, and then used better grammar and punctuation.
