Kendall Grove mixing it up with Mamed Khalidov in December - Five Ounces of Pain : Five Ounces of Pain

Quote:

Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall Grove is set to see action in a little more than a week when he collides with respected Polish pugilist Mamed Khalidov at KSW 21 in Warsaw. Khalidov was originally scheduled to face Melvin Manhoef at the December 1 event before the hard-hitting kickboxer was forced to withdraw due to injury.

News of the bout was confirmed by a KSW official in a conversation with Sherdog.

Another ex-UFC fighter to his name... Anyone know when he's eligible for another UFC negotiation? MW doesn't seem to have much in the way of new blood.

As far as I know he's eligible to negotiate right now, but turned down the UFC's last offer because it was less than what he's making with KSW and he and his management feel he's worth more as a talent. From what I've read, he was offered something like a 20-20 deal and he's making 30 right now with KSW without the travel expenses etc. Here's what I've read.

Khalidov offered $20k/$20k deal by UFC - Fighters Only

Mamed Khalidov Has Been Offered a UFC Contract That Apparently Ain’t Worth Diddly Squat | | Cagepotato

I wouldn't doubt that they make another run at Khalidov VERY SOON, pay him closer to what he wants and once he debuts, he makes a hard run against many of the perennial MW challengers.

I remember him turning it down, didn't realize it was 20/20 but I suppose the travel costs are a bitch for him. Plus, when he makes the step up, he'll have to pay more to bring in additional training partners during camp, etc.

Kinda crazy that they don't have him on a contract though... But I hope you're right. I'd love to see how he handles more relevant competition (and also how he fares out of the 1st!)

I think that when it is all said and done, Khalidov will have had the more successful career than Lombard in the UFC, they've just got to make it worth his while and on his end, maybe look to start training stateside to receive an elevated caliber of camp....
