| Gegard Mousasi would like to fight Shogun Rua and believes that he can beat anyone
Gegard Mousasi would like to fight Shogun Rua and believes that he can beat anyone Quote:
In an interview with FCFighter, Mousasi finally emerged from whatever cage he's been hiding in for the past two years and said that he expects a UFC contract after his upcoming fight with Mike Kyle and that he would enjoy fighting Shogun Rua. Quote:
When and if he gets there he said he plans to fight as a light heavyweight and would like to battle Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
“That would be a good fight,” Mousasi said. “That would be an exciting fight. He’s the kind of guy who likes to fight. I like to fight guys like him who come to fight instead of fight(ing) to win.”
“I am 100 percent positive about my abilities to beat anybody,” Mousasi said. “I don’t doubt myself I just have to have my priorities right. I know I can beat anybody.”

When Gegard comes to the UFC he better be ready to stop some takedowns. Not many people want to stand with Mousasi.

Some people consider him overrated. But I seriously consider him to be a future UFC champion and the real deal.
His only weakness is his wrestling, other than that, he is really awesome. He has K-1 level striking, KO power, very good BJJ, good cardio, good chin. If he is able to develop a Cigano level TDD, then I do not think that many people would have a chance against him.
Him vs Machida is a dream match for me. And I also think that he can beat anyone, including Jones.
He is also young.
Another interesting thing is that about a year ago he said that he did not trained like a professional. He never had a really serious training camp, he did not had a trainer for each area, but that from now he would be having all that.
So, if that is true, do you realize the talent this guy has?
I am really excited to see him in the UFC.
I just hope that the injurie he had will not affect him.

Machida would knock him the fuck out. A fight with Shogun would be epic. I have always wanted to see those two go at it.

Easy there Mousasi. You need to start slow when coming into the UFC.
I say give him GLOVER for his debut fight!!!

mousasi is a solid guy, one of the best thw fighters outside of the UFC. I'd like to see what he could do in the division. It would be an interesting test for Jones if he can go on a run for the title.

I believe him, but then again I'm a huge Mousasi fan, I've bought into him for years and while I'd much rather prefer him fighting at MW and always have concerns about his TDD, I believe he is a top 5 LHW as we speak and only has trouble against the tops of the division(which for me is Jones/Machida/Evans/Glover).
Mousasi/Vera is the fight I'd want them to debut Gegard if he ever comes to the UFC(dunno, but I have a hinky feeling he's signed to Showtime...)and show the fans how hard he can go.

So if he hasn't done that yet, what makes you think he'll be able to do it now?

So if he hasn't done that yet, what makes you think he'll be able to do it now? | His priority has been the striking and submissions. He got very good at it and now he should focus much more in his wrestling. If he hires a good wrestling coach, goes to a good camp and trains very hard, why he would not be able to get a good TDD?
