And let's face it...Ed Soares wants $$$ fights for Silva. Ones that he can win too, which is why they are actively pursuing GSP and making excuses and demands when asked about fighting Jones.

I just wonder since GSP will defend his title next fight, is Silva gonna do the same or will he take his year long layoff that he stated?
do any of you think GSP will actually fight with silva? i mean "I wanna take care of my challengers @ WW before i do anything with silva" the problem with that is that there are new challengers every year or so so him saying that would essentially eliminate any possibility of a GSP/Silva superfight. and people are always gonna make the excuse "Well each fighter needs to take care of their weight class first before thinking about this" hello, newsflash: Silva has cleaned out the MW division and no one has beat silva . wiedman wont, sonnen wont. GSP has cleaned out WW. beat fitch, hughes, Condit, Serra, Penn , Alves upon others. how many more beatings are GSP and Silva gonna have to give before everyone can agree on a superfight?

Quit making excuses. this is the fight to happen. Not Hendricks/GSP or Wiedman/Silva , not Jones/Silva but GSP/Silva.

You're welcome to your perception, but I'd think his job is to improve his product, not pick low-hanging fruit.

While I think some fans want to see the superfight, I think others want to see the UFC continue to evolve, want to see MMA continue to be legitimized and to realize it's full potential.

This superfight would do none of those things. Think about all the ridiculously dumb things boxing-or-die fools say about MMA right now: it's gay, it's cockfighting, etc. All of them are easily dismissed.

But they'd be able to legitimately say that the guy who is promoted as the very best MMA has to offer if declining to fight anyone but a guy who fights in a weight class below him right now. They'd be correct in saying it.

That's unfortunate, in my opinion.

Neither would be considered the GOAT after this bout. Certainly NOT Anderson if it happens and he wins. When two guys of equal skill fight, the bigger guy is supposed to win. That's the way size works.

In this instance, I wasn't referring to individual integrity. I was referring to the integrity of the belt, of the organization as a whole.

The UFC would not 'simply' move on with the hype machine marketting the next big thing. With GSP and Silva being established divisional kingpins and ppv draws, there would be a huge gap left by them not fighting. The UFC can't afford to damage itself to the extent it would by cutting both GSP and Silva. If either guy doesn't want the fight, it won't happen; because neither guy has to do it. They'll just continue to fight in their division. The guy who wanted the fight, may have additional leverage in negotiations; commanding a slightly larger salary to fight opponents he should be fighting anyways.

Dana is borderline retarded when he gets emotional. I'm sure he could be riled up enough to try to cut Anderson, just as I'm sure that Lorenza and Frank would put the kibosh on that endeavour.

You're just talking nonsense now. What 'big' names have they cut for having consecutive losses? Chuck? Tito? Rampage? Forrest? Wanderlei? Hendo? Machida? Penn? Edgar? Arlovski? Lesnar? Hughes?

They don't cut their established meal tickets, ever.

It's been documented several times (I made a post about it here http://www.mmanews.com/forums/genera...tml#post952771).

There was that time they cut Leben after he lost 4 out of 6. And that time they cut Hardy after losing 4 in a row.

Right?

Hey, waitaminute...that's not what happened at aaaaaaaaaaaaaaallll.

Well, in their defense, both those guys are big name/huge draw/overpromoted guys. They're waaaay bigger than Anderson and Georges. Those poor schmucks better toe the line, because they're not getting an inch of leeway.

Can you imagine the company-line blowback if a drone like Georges or Anderson suddenly announced he wasn't going to fight for a year to make shit movies with a ponytailed donut of a has-been? They'd be fired so fast, their pink slip would turn red from embarrassment.

Anderson seems to just want to avoid MMA in general until an easy fight presents itself.

GSP should leave Hendricks hanging and go make Rocky 7 or Terminator 5 with his buddies Sly and Arnold. At least he has movie star friends with some talent. In part of that french interview he just did GSP actually credited the T-2000 for teaching him his awesome take downs.
