GSP on $50,000,000 rumor: 'It is not true' - Mixed Martial Arts News

I have a hard time telling if you're being sarcastic But I think his logic is perfectly reasonable. Not only are there concerns about his continued durability, but if he loses badly it could impact his sponsorships. A loss may very well reduce his lifetime earnings and I think what he's doing is smart.

Was that the one where he said "someday" he'd consider the fight, or has he said anything about it being sooner.

I didn't take that statement "if I do it, it will be on my terms" as though it was any time within the next few years. It seemed pretty consistent with his statements that he's got work to do at WW.

But the whole nonsense brings up a good point, so I'm adding a poll...it wasn't a good enough point to warrant a whole thread.

I picked them to both be paid the same. I think GSP brings Canada while Anderson brings Brazil. I guess it also might matter at what weight they are fighting at.

Agreed as usual, MIZ

I also think the implications carry out in ways outside of the base pay. For example, I don't believe GSP should earn more simply for being smaller - if he wins, his size disadvantage will certainly be mentioned in his P4P rankings and positively impact his PPV sales, sponsorships, etc.

Similarly, I don't think just being ranked #1 is enough to warrant a disparity in pay for Silva against the #2 P4P in GSP. (Oddly, I think we have to assume for this context that GSP is #2, otherwise this fight makes a lot less sense.)

I think it should be close, but GSP should get a little bit more for fighting a guy much larger than him.

i think if they fight at a catchweight they should be get the same amount of $...with that said, if GSP has to move up to MW he should be componsated for it and be paid more then AS. If AS has to move down to WW for the fight he should be paid more then GSP

He more than likely would ask for a higher cut of the % of PPV buys that he already gets anyway and not some flat figure.

If you base it on skill thy should both get about the same. If you base it on who needs to be motivated to take the fight more then GSP.

If you base it on the real basis fighters are paid under then you give more to the guy who sells tickets and PPV buys and that is GSP by a long shot.

Its hard to say. The UFC and the fighters management knows their "true value" far more than we do, it often falls somewhere in between after negotiations.

Both fighters are going to make bank on this fight, I wouldnt have a problem with either getting more than the other. So long as it isnt blatantly unfair.

It is a good idea to start your price out high, but we all know that 50 mil is not going to happen, Floyd and Manny dont make that much... Something like that is years away from happening in MMA.

True, GSP is the biggest PPV draw out there now. Im sure his team and the UFC know that, that will play a big role...

you also cannot discount what Anderson brings to the table... There are factors beyond PPV #'s... How many eyes will be on the UFC in Brazil, a country that has a much larger population than Canada... There is plenty of advertisement money to be had for all involved based on that. Not saying it is more/less/equal to what GSP brings to the table, because we simply dont know... but it has to be considered as well.

Im sure Dana, the Fertitas, Anderson, GSP, Soares, and Zhabi are all going to be sitting fat with cash after the fight.
