Good question. I think so, but regardless of my opinion, we're about to find out.

I feel you. But seriously, if you're the guy who WAS going to buy the PPV because of Hendo vs Machida, but decides NOT to buy the PPV just because Rousey's on it, then you're a real special piece of work.

Not at all... Hendo vs. Machida is an all time fight...

Im not against WMMA, just not interested. Thats how most of my friends view it(as well as other Womens sports)

Its not like im going to change the channel, but I would much rather have a meaningful mens fight in its place, especially if your forking down the cash.

I'm listening to Sherdog radio right now, and they brought up a great point. The only negative angle to having Ronda as the main event is that Hendo vs Machida is only a 3 round fight, when it should be a 5 round fight. But honestly, I'd blame Zuffa for this more than WMMA.

I'd pay to see WMMA headlined card but not a flyweight, bantamweight headlined card.

I find this a slap in the face to both Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida.
Although, Ronda Rousey is an attention-getter, she hasnt paid her dues quite yet. She is a great mixed martial artist, but she gained her notoriety via Chael Sonnen style with her mouth. She will take away the media attention that should deservingly go to Dan and Lyoto, who are fighting for #1 contender matchup.

I would be content if this is a co-main event, because I dont want to see the Hendo/Machida regulated to a 3 round co-main event.

Default If Victorious in UFC Debut, Ronda Rousey Will Likely Face Cris Cyborg Next

If Victorious in UFC Debut, Ronda Rousey Will Likely Face Cris Cyborg Next | MMAWeekly.com

Quote:
The UFC will officially introduce the women’s division at UFC 157 when champion Ronda Rousey meets Liz Carmouche in the main event on Feb 23.

Of course the first name on anyone’s mind when Rousey is mentioned is the potential mega-fight against former Strikeforce champion Cris “Cyborg” Santos, and while it won’t be her first fight in the UFC, that may very well be her next challenge after Carmouche.

If Rousey is successful in her first fight in the UFC, it’s like the Brazilian will be her second test in the Octagon.

“That was obviously the fight that we wanted to make, we wanted to do that at 135lbs, and we worked hard to make that fight. I believe this fight will happen, then I truly believe the next one will be the Cyborg fight,” said UFC President Dana White on Thursday.

Cyborg has stated on numerous occasions in the past that there’s no way she could make the weight cut down to 135lbs. When she fought in Strikeforce, Santos competed at 145lbs, and even that was sometimes a rough weight cut.

But now it appears she will make the move down to bantamweight, it’s just a matter of taking the time to do it in a healthy way and then she can get the match-up against Rousey.

“(The Cyborg fight) is going to happen eventually, I can’t make these girls fight me when I want them to fight me, and I’ve got a lot of respect for Liz. She’s the only one that stepped up and said she wanted this fight right now, and it speaks a lot to her,” Rousey said about the fight.

“When other girls come around and they actually want to come to the big show, they know where I’m at.”

Rousey says she’s never doubted for a second that Cyborg could make the cut down to bantamweight, it just took her some time to come to the same realization.

“I know she can make 135, and so does she,” said Rousey. “It just takes her a little bit a while to realize that this is the only option that she has, and it took her a little bit of a while because I don’t think she’s not that bright. When she does think about it, I’m logically the only fight that makes sense.”

Cyborg is currently at home in Brazil, and still serving out the final weeks of her one-year suspension handed down after she tested positive for performance enhancing drugs after her last bout in Strikeforce. She will be eligible to return to action in late December once she clears any hurdles from the athletic commissions.

At that point, it’s likely Santos will negotiate and sign a deal with the UFC and hopefully face Ronda Rousey in 2013.

solid booking, but the problem we're going to face very soon is how shallow the WMMA talent pool is. there will be several rematches and gifted title shots until the divisions have time to grow.

we need kaufman and coenan in the UFC, stat.

I think you've nailed this on or near the head. I will be buying this based on the card esp Hendo and Machida. To be honest I couldn't care less about Rousey fighting. I don't know if we are going to find out whether she can sell ppvs or not because those that were going to buy for Hendo are still going to buy. Where I live people don't even know that WMMA exists and think it's bad when I tell them it does. I'll watch the women fight but only because it's MMA...

HOSS-Bork, you should spend more time brushing up on your MMA history, and less time complementing guys on how young their penises taste.

Most people decide by one fight to buy or not. With these two extremely different matches it will provide a larger viewing crowd.
