I disagree with this being the main event over Henderson and Machida, although it's a title fight while Hendo/Machida isn't so I suppose that's why.

On the contrary, I think this is PPV gold. | if your saying rouse and carmouche alone is ppv gold your retarded... but what the ufc is gonna do is put a couple cant miss fights below this absolutely horrific and undeserving main event. then whne ppl buy the ppv for the other fights dana will be like "i told you so! ronda rousey is ppv gold!"

Check your tone, bro. What planet you been on? What male UFC fighter is on the cover of ESPN the magazine? This isn't PPV gold, it's friggin platinum!
In case you didn't know, UFC PPV buy rates have flatlined. Just wait and see what the numbers are for UFC 157. This PPV will do huge numbers. and not because of Rousey vs Carmouche exclusively, but because you get Rousey vs Carmouche IN ADDITION TO Hendo vs Machida and whatever else will be on it. Have you heard the expression, "The icing on the cake?"
You have no vision. You get all the PPV buys you would have gotten from Hendo vs Dragon PLUS all the hype associated with the first women's UFC fight. And don't forget, you get to see the best WMMA fighter in the world. Whether or not WMMA can draw in the long run is up for debate but you're smoking bath salts if you don't think this makes a big splash.

Rousey vs Carmouche is not gonna be my main reason for watching the card, but I would buy it for it alone. I just get lucky to see my all time fav fight on it. War Hendo, and war him not fighting 3 rounds. Yes I said it. I am a nut hugger and Hendo's chances go up if it is just three rounds (although I would love to see it be 5 and I like Lyoto as well) Great card for people to get introduced to wmma. Get ready for it guys, b/c here it comes. One fight out to 10 won't kill you.

well it's good that it's a main event fight, but I'd rather see Rhonda fight Rin Nakai from Japan, that would be a freaking awesome fight!

| Ronda Rousey talks UFC debut against Liz Carmouche, not fighting Cyborg Santos next - MMA Fighting Liz Carmouche: Ronda Rousey's fans 'could be in for a surprise' - MMA Fighting Quote:
When Liz Carmouche woke up on Thursday morning, she had no idea she was about to become a part of UFC history.
UFC president Dana White announced at the UFC on FOX 5 press conference in Seattle that Carmouche would challenge Ronda Rousey in the main event of UFC 157 on Feb. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
But Carmouche herself didn't find out until about an hour before the announcement.
Carmouche explained how it all broke down in a telephone interview with MMAFighting.com from the San Diego Combat Academy gym in her first public comments on the fight. Quote: |
"I got a call from Dana about an hour before the they made the announcement," Carmouche said. "It was the first time I've ever talked to Dana. It came together that quick. I was out clothes shopping, and just like that I've gone from not having a fight to being in the UFC and getting my dream fight just like that."
| With one fell swoop, Carmouche became part of the first women's fight, title fight, and pay-per view main event in UFC history, as well as the UFC's first openly gay fighter. Hours after the big announcement, it hadn't all sunk in. Quote: |
"I still haven't processed it," Carmouche said. "I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it. It was the type of thing I dreamed about when I got into the sport a couple years ago, but to have it happen this fast ... like I said, I still haven't processed it."
| The fighter known as "The Girl-Rilla" is 7-2 in her career and has won her past two fights. She was scheduled to face Sara McMann on the doomed Nov. 3 Strikeforce card in Oklahoma City, and has waited for her next move since the card was canceled. Quote: |
"I never let myself get out of fighting shape," said Carmouche. "That's always been my thing. I always want to be ready to go if I get a phone call. So it's not like I got out of shape or anything like that. Obviously I have a goal in front of me now, but I haven't stopped training."
| Carmouche knows what's in her path. While Rousey, the UFC's first women's bantamweight champion, has become a star in part because of her brash demeanor and sex appeal, she also backs it up in the cage, with six-first round armbars victories in six career fights. Carmouche knows Rousey's fans expect her to be the next victim, and she's okay with that. Quote: |
"Hey look, I respect Ronda. She's done so much for the sport of women's MMA. I'm never going to take anything away from her. But for those people who think I'm going to get armbarred quick, all I can say is, they could be in for a surprise."

Sucks for anyone going. Just like it sucks for anyone that has to see John Dodson headline a card...
If the talent were there I wouldn't have a problem with it, but obviously the women's and flyweight divisions aren't even close to as deep as all the other divisons...
"Yayy they are fighting for a shiny belt"...No thanks, I just prefer really talented fighters engaging in an entertaining fight, especially for the main event lol
