Default Georges St-Pierre wants Anderson Silva in superfight: coach

Quote:
Georges St-Pierre wants to meet Anderson Silva in a superfight, according to his coach.

"He told me yes," said Firas Zahabi. "But I think there's a lot to be negotiated. I don't know much more than that."

Zahabi, however, says he gets more questions in Canada about GSP facing Nick Diaz than Silva, the current middleweight champion. In the U.S., the questions are about GSP-Silva, he said.

St-Pierre is back training after a holiday following his successful welterweight title defence last month against Carlos (Natural Born Killer) Condit at UFC 154 in Montreal.

He recently tweeted a picture of himself after a training session in Paris.

"Georges is doing a more relaxed form of training," said Zahabi. "After a fight like that [against Condit], he needs time off. He's just doing more playful types of training. But Georges' hobby is martial arts, so for him it's a pleasure what he's doing."

B.J. Penn, who meets GSP training partner Rory (Ares) MacDonald on Saturday in a televised UFC card, says he would pick Silva if the super-fight happens.

"GSP as great as he is, Anderson Silva is very hard to bet against at this moment," said the Hawaiian, who has lost twice to St-Pierre.

This is a real turn of events, but after Firas suggested that Diaz deserved a title shot over Johnny Hendricks, I'm taking everything he says with a grain of salt.

Interesting observation. BJ's opinion on this matter isn't directly relevant, but at least he's making sense now. This guy Penn is polarizing, sometimes I like him, sometimes I just can't stand his sour grapes routine. If he's reached a state of mind where he can publicly acknowledge that GSP is a great fighter, maybe there's hope for him yet.

Make it happen Dana

Cowboys Stadium...

Anderson vs. GSP
Bisping vs. Weidman
Diaz vs. Hendricks

Have Anderson fight Bisping/Weidman winner, GSP will do the same... Then have Anderson fight Jones.(assuming he beats GSP)

I see it as a trainer gets a percentage of the fighters pay. So I would take a cut from a Silva fight first than Daiz, and last but least Hendricks. People are money hungry they'll take short term gains with long term loses, over the opposite. Is this the trainers motive I don't know just pointing out the possibility.

gsp and/or his entourage doesnt want a fight where the opponent has even one clear cut andvantage over him not unless the money is right, they'll take diaz but not anderson or hendricks

Diaz has a clear cut advantage over GSP in boxing and BJJ. GSP has better all around striking and wrestling.

GSP has better striking than Hendricks. And if Kos was able to defend JH's takedowns as well as take him down, I dont see how GSP will have any trouble with that as well.

Anderson is better than GSP in all aspects, and with his size advantage and with his improving TDD, he can defend GSP's biggest strength (his wrestling), so yes, this is the only matchup where GSP has no real advantage

I can't fathom the thought of Anderson being able to stuff the best MMA wrestler's takedowns. I would also give the BJJ advantage to GSP as well.
