In fact, I think the notion of fighters who play it safe is wildly overblown and just an excuse for people to bitch about fighters they don't like. Diaz, certainly, has earned nothing other than a regular fight and a chance to prove that he can perform his press duties and not get suspended. | The modern human has ADD.

Jones has taken heavy criticism for fighting Chael.

No one is refusing to fight GSP. Plenty of people are refusing to fight Jon Jones. Big difference even though I don't agree with Chael fighting him its nowhere near the same situation.

I'm hoping that Dana is misrepresenting GSP's true viewpoint.

And BTW Jones also said that he would not let Chael talk his way to a title shot.

I'm holding out hope that he has to pull out and Hendo fills in.

Neither did Jon Fitch for all those years he was a top 5 contender. Neither does GSP.
Originally the sport of MMA was designed to determine who the best martial artist was not who was best at winning decisions. Diaz fights a lot like the pioneers of the sport. Some of the other guys you mentioned do as well, but lets not pretend the big money hasn't lead to a lot of conservative style changes.
