“Not sure where Dana White thinks he’s hearing my knee isn’t doing okay,” Henderson wrote on Twitter on Sunday. “It’s doing great. Slowly picking training up just like I do for every training camp.”

Dana White Talks UFC on Fox 5; Says Hendo Knee Not Ready, May Do Gustafsson vs. Machida

Quote:

White touched on a number of subjects, particularly on the lightweight title situation and future prospects to challenge Benson Henderson following Saturday night’s dominant performance over Nate Diaz. He also divulged that Dan Henderson’s knee may nut yet be up to snuff and that it’s a possibility that they could match Alexander Gustafsson in his place against Lyoto Machida.

Hendo deserves the title shot more than anyone else right now. When he gets done with Machida I don't think anyone will be able to argue that fact and Dana will have to finally give him his shot.

Great news. I wonder why Dana even brought it up although I do remember when rumors started to come out about Hendo's knee prior to the Jones fight it seemed like he was trying to cover it up for a little bit (I think he said he was training with a certain fighter and that fighter then said he hadn't seen Hendo in a while).

Anyhow I hope his knee is good and he can beat Machida and get a title shot whether it be against Jones or Sonnen.

Wait a minute there Mr. Henderson, did you not learn your lesson after having to pull out of the Jones fight without giving much notice.

Dan denying the news of his hurt knee right before pulling out of the Jones fight:

Rumor: Dan Henderson Out Vs. Jon Jones At UFC 151? | Prefix

MMA4EVERRR 12-10-2012 08:16 AM

Regardless of what the rumor is, the point is the UFC needs to be prepared for ANY injury regarding the the next two LHW matches. I think that is why they announced the Shogun/Gustaffsson fight as #1 contender. The winner of that could easily slip into the #1 contender matchup between Hendo/Machida or the Jones/Sonnen fight.

Yes, I understand a lot of us want to see Dan get his LHW shot (myself included), but at this point, his biggest enemy is the condition of his knee.

i disagree, 1 fight at LHW since he has retunred to the UFC and hasnt faught in over a year. If we are going to talk about the MOST DESERVING fighter at LHW it has to be goose who is on a 6 fight win streak inside the division, and hasnt already had a shot at Bones Jones like Machida, Shogun, etc have.

If Hendo gets past Machida, and thats a big IF, then i would say he is up there as most deserving fighter at 205.

Beating Babalu and rafael cavalcante for the strikeforce belt is far from anything to brag about, and beating Fedor at the end of his career holds less water then if it was during his time of being the P4P king in MMA...just ask big foot silva.

In 2 years hes beaten 1 top 10 guy at LHW, I personally dont think that makes you the most deserving fighter at 205.

Cavalcante and Shogun were both in the top 10 when he beat them. And he stepped up to HW and faceplanted Fedor, something no other heavyweight has ever done. I think that's something to brag about.
